Federation for American Immigration Reform

An astute reader clued me into this.

In a story about a illegal immigrant who has been accused of car-jacking, we find this:
There are an estimated 140,000 illegal aliens working in Pennsylvania, according to the Federation of American Immigration Reform.
It's a mystery why the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review would use the Federation for American Immigration Reform for background information. A mystery because the Southern Poverty Law Center has declared FAIR to be a hate group.

Even if it weren't, we'd STILL be pointing out the financial support the foundations controlled by Richard Mellon Scaife have made to FAIR.
  • In 2008, the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave $300,000 to FAIR.
  • In 2007, the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave $50,000 to FAIR.
  • In 2007, the Carthage Foundation gave $300,000 to FAIR.
  • In 2006, the Carthage Foundation gave $300,000 to FAIR.
That's nearly $1,000,000 in just two years. In fact the mediatransparency project over at Mediamatters reports that the Carthage and Sarah Scaife Foundations have given almost $3,000,000 to FAIR since 1986.
Don't you think that should have at least been mentioned in this article? I mean it is a warning about the need for immigration reform, isn't it?
The circle jerk continues.
But wait, there's more. The SPLC has this to say:
The organized anti-immigration "movement" is almost entirely the handiwork of one man, Michigan activist John H. Tanton.
And they list a number of other anti-immigration groups either funded or founded by Tanton. If we limit our search to just those groups founded by Tanton, we find that there's another group that's enjoyed the largess of Scaife's foundation money, the Center for Immigration Studies.
How much money has Scaife funneled to CIS? I am glad you asked.
  • In 2008, the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave $150,000 to the CIS.
  • In 2007, the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave $150,000 to the CIS.
  • In 2006, the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave $150,000 to the CIS.
That's another $450,000 to John Tanton by way of CIS. Mediamatters reports that the Carthage and Sarah Scaife foundations have given about $1.5 million to the CIS since 1991.
I guess you could say that Richard Mellon Scaife's rather well-connected to the nation's anti-immigration movement.

Thanks to years our politicians selling their reputations to the highest wealthy bidder undetected in the scheme of things. Of course open border purveyors don't want to be recognized, because they are d. These donating multi-millions of dollars to keep the border region under-funded and open to traffic. As I analyzed before George Soros (Socialist-Marxist Billionaire), Carnegie Foundation, Ford Foundation and the giant Service Employers International Unions have all contributed to open border groups. So what makes you think the Public Policy Institute of California hasn't benefited from donations from the open border people by engineering there latest poll? According to how the questions are phrased, they can be engineered to say anything. The poll found 70 percent of respondents think undocumented immigrants in California should be allowed to apply for legal status under certain circumstances. I personally don't believe this BS for one minute. Californians have suffered to long under the impact of the illegal occupational forces. These pro-illegal immigration donation people live isolated lives away from the crush of big cities, surrounded by bodyguards. They do not have to every worry in their gated communities, or large mansions of the rising crime rate from foreign nationals, as long as their bottom line is substantial cash benefits for cheap labor is protected.

Patriotic Americans should GOOGLE--donations to the ACLU, US Chamber of Commerce and La Raza even environmentalist groups. Money has no conscious, even when our border territory is covered with the remnants of human trash mounds. It would stun the most ordinary US citizen or document carrying permanent resident, of those companies that donate huge amounts of money to even extremist organizations that are remain silently in the background. California, a refuge for foreign nationals is not a melting pot any more, but a over pouring cauldron of very angry citizens whose taxes are going towards subsidize the lives of illegal alien families. The majority of immigrants are indigent and have no skills, when even the lowest citizen has some schooling. Therefore people from the lower countries are more dependent on big government social welfare programs.

So. Brittanicus, I guess what you are saying is that Richard Scaife is being a true patriot in not acknowledging that he has given a considerable amount of money to the organization that his newspaper is citing as a source. Scaife gives money to the organizations on the other side of the "open border" groups because he recognizes the threat to the United States.

There are links in the original post. Do you have source material to back up your claims?

Of course, I suspect you think the Southern Poverty Law Center is a communist front. If y'all work hard at it, you can drive them out of existence the way you drove ACORN out of existence. Since ACORN was obviously helping the poor just leech off the rich (the real Americans) through the government.
