Barbara Bush: The Post-Katrina "Let Them Eat Cake" Award Winner!

I found this this evening, via atrios.

Seems pretty obvious that Barbara Bush is hardly the kindly granmother-type we thought her to be a dozen or so years ago. Remember that "beautiful mind" thing?

Well, she's not done.

Recently, according to this article at Editor and Publisher, The Queen Mum was touring the Astrodome in Houston and said some amazing amazing things. Here's how E&P describes it.
In a segment at the top of the [NPR] show on the surge of evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."
How nice. Nice to see the plan working:
  1. be poor in a Gulf Coast city that's right in the line of some hurricanes
  2. it should only be a matter of time before a really big hurricane will hit
  3. survive the rain and the wind and the floods
  4. but make sure to lose everything else
  5. get a government funded move to the Lone Star State!
There's an audio clip at crooks and liars.

That her last sentence could make her chuckle is truly disgusting. But at least now we know where the current president gets his callousness.

PS I heard that John Lennon was planning on divorcing Yoko Ono in December of 1980. So if that's indeed true, then I guess his assassination turned (slight chuckle) out to be good (chuckle chuckle) for her (chuckle chuckle gaffaw).
