Alito: "the Constitution does not protect a right to an abortion"

According to a document obtained by the Washington Times, in 1985 SCOTUS nominee Alito wrote:

"the Constitution does not protect a right to an abortion"..."I personally believe very strongly" in this legal position

My God! Someone is ordering or commanding you to have an abortion? Why that would be as wrong as someone ordering or commanding a woman to be pregnant!

I would agree with your sentiment if not your alarmism, Anonymous, were it not for the fact that it is foolish and naive to think that women would not seek to terminate pregnancies if abortion were outlawed tomorrow. I've encountered older doctors who were more willing than their younger counterparts to practice abortions because they remember what it was like for women pre-Roe. I don't always agree with Maria or other readers on this blog when it comes to abortion, but I understand the world is not so simple as you would like it to be.
