When the wingnuts speak of media bias, they're usually talking about "liberal" media bias.
But take a look at this. It's Maeve Reston's article at the P-G describing how the Senate has approved new rules about lobbying. All this in response to the Jack Abramoff and Duke Cunningham scandals.
And not once is the word "Republican" used in the piece. The closest Reston gets is to put the "R" when mentioning the Republican members of Congress.
But let's remember, friends, that the Abramoff scandal was a Republican scandal. And that the Duke Cunningham scandal was a Republican scandal.
If you didn't know the details, you could reasonably guess from Reston's piece that Abramoff was an equal opportunity briber (which he wasn't) or that the lobbying corruption is shared in equal parts by both parties (which it isn't).
In this piece it looks like the Senate has come together in a bipartisan way to clean up a bipartisan mess.
Uh-uh. Not true. It was a partisan mess all along. A Republican partisan mess.
Here's a thought experiment. Imagine it happening to Democrats. Doncha think the whole frickin news media would be pointing it out?
Of course they would.
It looks like there's a conscious attempt to AVOID mentioning the word "Republican" and the word "scandal" in the same sentence - heck, in the same news article.
Dayvoe,
ReplyDeleteI find it absolutely interesting beyond words that you fail to comment on the lack of media coverage regarding the following story.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/03/28/D8GKO3I85.html
Illegal? Yes. Scandal? Yes. Democrats involved? Yes. I described this very same thing via my blog, even commenting on with "I eagerly await to see where the 2politicaljunkies stand on this..."
Like I thought, your silence speaks volumes, or could it be you're only informed in one biased direction? I'll let you decide.
And let's not forget the Democrat scandlas during the Clinton Administration, either....*cough* Chinagate/Commiegate. John Wong and the Commerce Department and the Lippo Group. Bill Clinton giving away our missile techology to the Chinese in exchange for campaign donations. Can someone say treason? Yeah, your Democrat blinders are on real good there, Dayvoe.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it makes you wonder why a troll like Braden keeps coming back here. No one to talk to on your blog, eh?
ReplyDeleteI have an idea....instead of posting here on your work day time; why don't you just turn on your radio to 104.7 and listen to other like-minded haters talk at you. Heck they might even take a call from you and have a conversation with you about how all of us evil 'powerful' Democrats are ruining your utopia.
Anonymous, you amuse me so. All you can bring up is "no one visits my blog, etc." attempted "bash." Oh believe me, my anonymous friend, I receive a high number of hits per day and I know who reads it, including you. Fancy you base a blog read based on the number of comments. A fine example of such is Dooce.com, who wouldn't allow comments for the longest time, until just about a month or so ago. So, in essense, your ignorance on how the blogging world works only further demonstrates your utmost sniveling "I'm better than you" liberal attitude you continously project to me via here.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's amazing to me that you automatically assume that I am posting during my work time; but then again, I'll let you know I only post when I am not on work time (unlike you, I'm sure); not that my posting during whatever time is ANY of your business - but then again, you're a liberal, and when you're a liberal, it's just different. ;-)
Ladies and Gentlemen,
ReplyDeleteI'll keep this short as I don't have a heck of a lot of time this morning.
The article to which our troll refers describes the recent appeal court loss of Congressman McDermott (D-WA). The first line of the article says this:
A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that Rep. Jim McDermott violated federal law by turning over an illegally taped telephone call to reporters nearly a decade ago.
Wow. Leaking an illegally taped phone conversation nearly decade ago. Yea, that rates up there with multi-million dollar bribery.
On a side note, I wouldn't think our troll should really be complaining about illegally taped phone conversations - isn't that what his President has been doing for years?
Back to the issue at hand. I also wouldn't think our troll would want to point the corruption finger in this direction. On the tape that McDermott leaked to the media was none other than Newt Gingrich - a man who was fined $300,000 for his own ethics violations. Indeed the conversation took place the exact same day Gingrich "admitted to ethical errors" (which are weasel words for "I am corrupt.")
My example of corruption involves money - lots of it. Our troll's "example" involves a congressman informing the media about corruption in the other party. The problem is that he used an illegally taped phone conversation to do it.
Unfortunately reality is sometimes too complex for most ideologues to comprehend.
As for his other comment, all I can do is point out that Clinton was impeached. He was impeached for perjury surrounding the blowjobs he received from a woman who wasn't his wife. If our troll's charges are in fact true, then why didn't the House of Representatives issue articles of impeachment for treason?
Perhaps the Republican Senate and House were *cough* in on the Conspiracy.*cough*cough* (see? I can do that too!)
Yea, that must be it. The only way all that corruption could have made it past the Impeachment hearings was if the Republicans running the Congress were also in on it.
Or maybe it really only proves just how powerful the Clintons really were - getting away with all that corruption while the Congress wasted its precious time on Monica Lewinsky.
Hey, our troll might be onto something.
"The problem is that he used an illegally taped phone conversation to do it."
ReplyDeleteDayvoe, you typed all of that babble in order to say this:
"Do as I say, but not as I do"
My God man, how long does it take you to put your socks on in the morning?
Oh yeah, one more thing: I find it amusing that you define me as a "troll" when I am merely presenting my points of disagreement with you. What ever happened to this "diverse" philosophy that liberals supposedly adhere to and believe in?
David,
ReplyDeleteYou know, your smug attitude is most unbecoming at times.
"On a side note, I wouldn't think our troll should really be complaining about illegally taped phone conversations - isn't that what his President has been doing for years?"
Excuse me, David but are you saying that if someone in speaking to al qaeda across the ocean, you don't want to know about it? Is that what you're saying? You guys aren't concerned with national security at all, are you? You know you're not. You know that you're only concerned with getting your power back in Washington. Democrats will do anything to get their power back, and it more than obviously shows each and every day. If you were so concerned with our national security and you were against the way our President is intercepting telephone calls between people here talking with al qaeda across the ocean, then you'd present a better plan on intercepting those communications since you so seem to disagree with the way the President is doing it. But alas, you haven't presented such a plan. And you won't present such a plan. Again, all you care about is finding any little way to "impeach" the President, and it shows with your sniveling comments you make.
I can't help but wonder if the President, right now were a Democrat, if you wouldn't be hailing his methods as near heroic and such. I can't help but wonder if all of this hoo-haw coming from the left only has to do with one thing, and that thing being the President is a Republican who "stole" the 2000 election and you guys still have that very sour taste in your mouths who want nothing more than "revenge" even when our national security is at risk.
Screw all of you. I am sick of BOTH the democrats and republicans.
ReplyDeleteYOU BOTH have destroyed this country. Opening it up to trade with countries you knew very little about. Even when the corruption was brought to the surface by the BCCI affair. Both parties were heavily involved in scandal; in several countries. Most people have never even read it.
The Media is ignoring Rice and her involvement in ANOTHER highly sensitive CIA leak.
The media is ignoring the fact that our borders are in the mess they are in because of BOTH parties. If our borders HAD BEEN secure we would not be having the problems we are having NOW.
WE the PEOPLE are sick of you both. Get your shit together you are destroying our country.
