Rick Santorum - the Choice for Women

I'm not sure which is goofier. Ricky Santorum busting a gasket in a panic about how Democratic Operatives were trespassing at the house he's almost never in or Ricky Santorum claiming to be a "pro-woman" candidate.

That's right. But isn't there something wrong with the article's first paragraph?
A former presidential adviser and one-time host of CNN’s "Crossfire" was in Cumberland County Monday to tout Sen. Rick Santorum as a "pro-woman" candidate most in touch with issues women face.
The piece is about Ricky Santorum, so why does it begin by talking about Mary Matalin? Anyway, let's take a look to see exactly HOW Ricky's been such a good "pro-woman" candidate.

On Birth control (I found this at Santorumexposed):
"I don't think it works. I think it's harmful to women, I think it's harmful to our society to have a society that says that sex outside of marriage is something that should be encouraged or tolerated, particularly among the young. I think it has, as we've seen, very harmful long-term consequences for society. So birth control to me enables that and I don't think it's a healthy thing for our country."

--CN8's "Nitebeat with Barry Nolan", July 28, 2005.
On the education of unmarried mothers (again found at Santorumexposed):
"The notion that college education is a cost-effective way to help poor, low-skill, unmarried mothers with high school diplomas or GEDs move up the economic ladder is just wrong."

--It Takes a Family, Pg. 138, July 2005.
So birth control is bad. But if it's not used, an unwanted pregnancy may occur. And if that happens and the woman who's given birth is poor, it's not a good idea for her to try to get a college education.

Rick Santorum - The "pro-woman" candidate.

it's pro-woman if you come at it from a catholic viewpoint. i went to catholic school for years and years. he's pushing the catholic/fundie christian ideals.

a man is the head of the household, a woman is a virgin til marriage. sex is for procreation the only birth control is to only have sex during those(oh so regular, heavy sarcasm )infertile days of the month. so yes, he really does think he is pro woman. he's trying to mandate what he(and god)KNOWS is best for us "lesser" creations.
he really isn't being anything other than what he is.
i'm all for his right to believe anything he wants and to live according to those beliefs BUT i resent and will argue against his belief that he should force his religious beliefs on anyone else or ME and mine!

god, i hope he loses!!!!!

Santorum is horrible. I wouldn't let him off the hook on the grounds that he was brought up in a particular tradition. He's drawn to bad ideas on his own. It isn't his Catholic upbringing that put him on the English First bandwagon, for instance.

It's *really* important to vote him out of the Senate in November. He appears to be surprisingly vulnerable.
In the recent GOP primary, all over the state, tens of thousands of registered Republicans voted in their primary, and DID go up-ballot from contested races in their local district to dutifully fill in the box for Lynn Swann (running for Governor), but left Santorum's box blank.

If you have a few spare pennies, drop them in the tip cup for his opponent at

We have just GOT to leverage Santorum out of his Senate seat.

My mother, the 80-something lifelong registered Republican, spent half an hour at the new voting machine, struggling to type in Casey for Senate on her Republican ballot. I've I'd have known ahead of time she was planning to do that, I'd have asked her to type in Penacchio, but she might still be there.
