Santorum's Chicken-Livered Ploy

That's not me talking. It's the editorial board of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Just so nobody misunderstands, the following criticism is not aimed at the children of Sen. Rick Santorum (R., Pa.). The senator deserves this heat all to himself.

In a new campaign commercial, he uses his kids as a shield to deflect questions about his residency. It's a chicken-livered ploy. [emphasis added]
See?

After quoting Lil Ricky's commercial (the part that says that his opponents criticized his children for attending the cyberschool), they get to the point:
No, Senator, the criticism is not aimed at your children. It's leveled at you. Your children weren't the ones who decided to exploit Pennsylvania's loose cyber school law. You did.

From the start of the spat over this matter, the senator's spin has been hard to take. He has consistently tried to portray fair criticism of his bid for taxpayer-subsidized tuition as a cruel attack on his children.
- Chicken-livered all the way.
