STATE REP. MIKE VEON
THE DEMOCRATIC WHIP

House Democrats are poised to take back the state House this Fall! Please join Bill Peduto and Pittsburgh's Progressive Community at the Shadow Lounge to help take back the state House, and make Mike Veon the Majority Leader.

We have a rare opportunity to elevate a true progressive to a top position in State Government. As majority leader, Mike Veon, along with Governor Rendell can easily beat back attacks from the right wing and finally move a progressive agenda forward in Pennsylvania. But Mike cannot do it without you!

  1. Mike Veon is part of the problem in Harrisburg!

  2. Seriously --- can't we do better than Mike Veon? He's about as progressive as Boss Tweed!

  3. This is more about getting a Dem majority then anything else...and when we do, having the ear of the guy in charge.

And as far as being a progressive goes, he's rated by Project Vote Smart as being great on pro choice and labor issues, and good on environmetal/conservation issues.

  4. I won't be able to make it. I'll be knocking on doors that day to make it happen.

  5. I can appreciate your pragmatism, as you can imagine, considering our previous debates over Bob Casey. My problem with Mike Veon, however, is his unapologetic defense of the pay raise. Yes, it was one vote, but it was emblematic of a culture of corruption, patronage and feather-nesting in Harrisburg. I also have not seen an appreciable difference between the two parties on the state's most pressing issues. I suspect that's one reason why the GOP is content to throw a candidate as weak as Lynn Swann up against Rendell. They really don't care who is in the governor's mansion, the politicians in Harrisburg will prosper no matter what.

  6. That Peduto grafic should read "Mayor"
    Not city council.

  8. If and when Peduto runs for mayor, the graphic would read "Peduto for Pittsburgh" or "Peduto for Mayor." For now, it is what it is.

  9. Jonathan,

I do understand everyone's problems with Veon re the pay raise. I even anticipated the comments before posting this.

I still believe that the Republican majority is harmful to the state --particularly to this region.

  10. Ouch. Veon. He is part of the problem.

The last word of the title of this blog comes into play when Peduto helps Veon.

We don't need 'junkies' who need 'fixes' to be in roles when clever leadership is greatly desired.

That sounds like it came out of a fortune cookie. LOL

  12. Fortune cookie messages are now being examined by homeland security.

So, we've begun to put messages in dinner roles since the spinach pipeline became dry.
