John K. says: McCain is no conservative. He should be hammered. The only places that McCain wins are in states that allow Democrats to vote for Republicans. However, none of those Democrats will dare cast a vote for McCain in the general election. But of course the left and media loves the guy. They just won't vote for him.
Amazing! Every single sentence in your comment is factually incorrect, John! (OK, maybe the last one is true.) You've really outdone yourself this time! Congrats!
John K. says: Well then, shitrock will be voting for McCain in both the primary and general election. Welcome to the conservative side of things shitrock. I am turning Pittsburgh conservative one voter at a time.
John K. says: Issues in which McCain is not a conservative. Where do we start. Voted against tax cuts, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, immigration reform, wants to close Gitmo, etc, etc. Now if anyone in here thinks supporting McCain on these issues makes them a conservative, LMAO, I have proved my point at how far out on the wacko left wing fringe they really are. But remember lefties, McCain supports bashing al queda in Iraq or wherever. Bomb. bomb, bomb Iran.... LOL LOL One of Johnny boys top ten hits.
John K. also says: I therefore fully expect Olbermouth and Matthews to endorse McCain for President in Sept. Or is this, as I suspect, the left wing kooks trying to tell Republicans who to vote for. After all, left wing kooks do not want to run against a conservative, makes them look bad. LOL LOL LOL LMAO lefties voting for McCain lol
McCain-Feingold may have pissed off conservatives, but it was signed into law by President Bush. Regarding immigration, McCain's position is the same as that of the Wall Street Journal editorial board. (And that of President Bush.)
It seems to me a true conservative -- one who, in the American political tradition, believes in limited government-- would oppose the abuse of government power and violation of the rule of law that Gitmo represents. Perhaps what you meant to say is that McCain is out of step with his party on these issues. That would be correct. McCain did, however, support the war in Iraq, and he continues to do so.
He voted against tax cuts that we did not need. Fine. That does put him in opposition to much of the conservative establishment.
McCain is not my first choice for president. But he is my first choice among the GOP field.
President McCain will present America with a new nightmare scenario. More enormous deficits to fund disasterous military adventures and deplete our military strength. More failed economic policies that enrich the rich, impoverish the poor, and decimate the middle class. More incursions into our civil liberties.
These are the conservative Republican policies that have been steadily reducing America's position in the world ever since Reagan. Any honest viewer of the political scene in this country would acknowlege that conservative Reaganist philosphy and policy has persisted through Bush 41 and Clinton and reached its zenith in the Bush/Cheney/Delay/Frist cabal. McCain will continue to convert America to a fascist state and a spineless Democratic Congress will abet him.
It takes a special sort of blindness to not recognize McCain as not simply a conservative, but a conservative from the very rightmost fringes of an insanely rightist Republican Party. He is not a neocon, true, and that is a point in his favor, but he will bring further decline and further misery to a country whose best days, it seems, ended with the death of Franklin Roosevelt.
John K. says: Based on the comments in this blog, I fully expect the Democrats to abandon their party and vote for McCain should he win the nomination. LOL LOL Yah and man made global warming is real. LMAO
