Shameless Self Promotion

1. We'd find the Post-Gazette's new weekly column Cutting Edge: New Ideas / Sharp Opinions interesting even if they hadn't mentioned 2pj (and T.W.M.).

2. Pre SOTU piece in the Trib quotes Dayvoe.

  1. David DeAngelo, an independent, doubts Bush will say what he wants to hear -- that troops are coming home from Iraq and veterans don't need to worry about the government slashing funds for their medical care.

"We're just all relieved it will be over soon," said DeAngelo, 44, of Shadyside, who writes about politics for the blog 2 Political Junkies. "The only act they really have left is to try to change the rules of the game, so they don't look like the worst presidency ever."

    an independent?
    Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha
...And you call Bush a liar.

  2. He is a registered Independent. I am a registered Democrat.

    Get over it.

  3. A political junkie that registers to not be able to vote in primary elections? That is unlikely. A political junkie would normally HATE to be removed from the voting process.
It just seems intentional in order to missrepresent an ideology.
    Perception becomes reality.....

    Get over it.

  4. Mein Heir: Pretty easy to call people you disagree with "liar," innit? Twice in the past week or so. Keep working on your style, though, and you'll get up to John K's level of credibility. But it's not "ha,ha," it's "LOL LOL LMAO." Work on that.

Translation of Anon 2:45: I can't admit I'm wrong anymore than Dubya can.

Unless I am mistaken, voter registration information is in the public domain. Why don't one of you cowboys do some homework and get back to us? Nah, it's a whole lot easier just to call people liars, innit? Research would require brain activity. You're certainly not going to do THAT when you blog...you obviously don't do it when you vote.

  5. Independent implies the David has a open mind and might agree with Republicans on some policy issues and
He might even vote for one.

The only disagreement I see David having with the Democrats is they are not progressive enough.

Maybe Green party would be the party that reflects David's worldview.

  6. This has to be the silliest set of comments I have ever seen.

For the record, I AM an independent. Had I called myself a Democrat or a Republican or a member of any political party (and if my memory serves, that was the question at hand at that part of the interview) I would have been lying. I am not a member of any political party so therefore I am an independent.

    Get over it.

Elsewhere in the interview I did point out that I definitely blog from the left.

And I HAVE agreed with some Republican policy issues in the past (not that any of the trolls would believe me if I said so, however).

I voted for Mark DeSantis in the mayoral election (not that that's anyone's business, of course).

It's amazing to me how easily the trolls assumed.

So much for open mindedness on their part.

    LOL! LMAO! I WIN!

  7. In my opinion, an independent is someone who cares more about solving problems than defending their political ideology and retaining power.

Moveon.org and their fool-proof General Betrayus ad are a perfect example of people who care more about their ideology than what's good for the country. The impression I got when I saw that was that they were upset that things were dramatically improving in Iraq and felt the need to attack a decorated commander who has nothing to do with their anti-Bush hatred.

See, I KNEW you were a Republican! And apparently a Republican who whines about the MoveOn ad without having read it. Pity.

  9. Not to diminish Dayvoe's and Chad's accomplishment, but is THIS the upshot of the P-G's wild foray into the online universe? A weekly page of links and excerpts? Somebody wake me when they discover emoticons....

  10. It's amazing to me how easily the trolls assumed.

I know what you mean, Dayvoe, but what amazes even more is the way they are willing to come back, time and time again and embarrass themselves.

It's not just that they make stupid statements, it's that they make stupid statements that are so easily disposed of. But they slink away, defeated, muttering something like, "I just know Hitler wasn't Catholic. Unh unh. No way. It doesn't matter what the books say."

Then the next day they're back again with another Major Andre story and humiliate themselves again.

Ain't it grand being right by being left?

Actually, I'm up here surrounded by intelligent friends, and the elevation helps us to avoid accidentally stepping on the Unwashed below. I would think the Righties have a problem dodging the shit that often falls on them, though.
