Bush Committed War Crimes!

And that's not just me saying it.

It's Major General Antonio Taguba (US Army Ret). From McClatchy:

The Army general who led the investigation into prisoner abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison accused the Bush administration Wednesday of committing "war crimes" and called for those responsible to be held to account.

The remarks by Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, who's now retired, came in a new report that found that U.S. personnel tortured and abused detainees in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, using beatings, electrical shocks, sexual humiliation and other cruel practices.

"After years of disclosures by government investigations, media accounts and reports from human rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes," Taguba wrote. "The only question that remains to be answered is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be held to account."

No longer any doubt.

Taguba writes in the Preface:
This report tells the largely untold human story of what happened to detainees in our custody when the Commander-in-Chief and those under him authorized a systematic regime of torture. This story is not only written in words: It is scrawled for the rest of these individuals’ lives on their bodies and minds. Our national honor is stained by the indignity and inhumane treatment these men received from their captors.
Can we impeach NOW?

John K. says: Sure you can try it. After all you have been fishing for 7 years now. But you won't. You need the threat more than the actual act. Remember, when Kucinich proposed the articles of impeachment it was the Republicans that kept it alive in committee.

Nice try, John.

Nice to see you ignoring the facts in that blog posting. You focussed on the "impeach" part in order to deflect attention away from the high ranking military official who said there was NO DOUBT BUSH COMMITTED WAR CRIMES.

You can't argue aganst that, can you so you argue against something else.

Nice going.

Regardless John still has a valid point. And he made it well.
