From Time:
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor..
a book ban advocate! well, that's just the icing on the cake of reasons not to vote for her.
ReplyDeletePerhaps rather than be veep Palin could be appointed Witchfinder General.
ReplyDelete.
Didn't Hitler burn books, too?
ReplyDeleteMy mother, God rest her soul, was a librarian at my high school. Once, an irate mother came in and angrily told my mother that her son's filthy mouth mouth was a result of the content of some of the books in the library and that that was ultimately her fault. My mother took it in stride but once I found out who the kid was all I could do was chuckle and point out that he barely knew what a book was. And that is the sad irony of this type of situation. The idiots who push for this sort of thing usually never TAKE THE FUCKING TIME TO ACTUALLY READ THROUGH THE FUCKING BOOKS THAT THEY FUCKING COMPLAIN ABOUT!!!
ReplyDeleteNot that I take this personally or anything. Fucking American Taliban, indeed!
John K: And the left wants to ban conservative talk from the radio. So your elitist point would be..?
ReplyDeletePlease explain this leap in topics.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I can answer that one. JohnK must think that cussing is liberal speech. Of course, no one sent that memo to Dick "Fuck Yourself" Cheney or John "Fuck You" McCain [wink].
