I just got called by the Ravenstahl campaign. It was a typical campaign call. I am not sure they knew they were calling someone attached to this blog.
After the initial courtesies ("How are you today?" "I am fine, and you?" "I am fine, thank you for asking.") I was asked if I had any idea who I'd be voting for in the upcoming primary.
I said I didn't know.
The caller then asked me if there were any questions she could answer for me about the race and I asked her about the cancellation of the mayoral debate.
The caller said she hadn't heard that the debate had been canceled. She said she hadn't had a chance to talk to her supervisor about it.
I asked if there was anyone I could talk to over there about the cancellation and she pointed me in the direction of the mayor's website.
As I was writing the above, my phone rang AGAIN. (This was about ten minutes after the first call.) It was the Ravenstahl campaign again. I am not sure if it was the same woman but this woman told me that because of the many commitments missed last week (due to the memorial service) by both Mayor Ravenstahl and Councilman Dowd, the debate had to be canceled.
So there you have it.
I know they knew they were calling my number, but I wonder if they knew they had any idea they were calling the person who writes for this blog.
Life, as they say, is filled with mysteries.
Doubt it that they knew it was you.
ReplyDeleteActually there are names on call sheets, and if the caller went to her supervisor and said this question was raised by this person, it is completely within the believable realm of possibility that they figured out it was you. Its also entirely possible that they didn't know it was you. Even chance either way.
ReplyDeleteTold ya.
ReplyDeleteBack in the fall of 2001, James C. Carmine, Ph.D., had a hard time getting debates with Tom Murphy.
Tough situation. It sucked.
Tom Murphy would go on to really screw up the city.
We need to hold their feet to the fire. QED, KDKA, and all the media. Plus the candidates, of course.
And, you can do debates without Luke.
Debates would not have made a difference with Carmine/Murphy.
