The CIA inspector general in 2004 found that there was no conclusive proof that waterboarding or other harsh interrogation techniques helped the Bush administration thwart any "specific imminent attacks," according to recently declassified Justice Department memos.But...that would mean that Cheney and other former Bush administration officials were...lying??
That undercuts assertions by former vice president Dick Cheney and other former Bush administration officials that the use of harsh interrogation tactics including waterboarding, which is widely considered torture, was justified because it headed off terrorist attacks.
What will we tell the children?
the bush administration lying to the public? oh my, what will we do? it's very similar to the MWDs Iraq had. There's a ton of statements, and policies that the Bush administration not only published, but stood behind based on lies. But then again; look at how our gov't was originally formed, through secret alliances, secret meetings, and congressional meetings the British police couldn't and wouldn't find. Basically, through lies, deception, and false statements. So are current politicians really different from our Founding Fathers, or has the "politician" stereotype stayed the same for hundreds of years? something to ponder.
