Nine members of the Christian militia group Hutaree have been indicted on multiple charges involving an alleged plot to attack police, including seditious conspiracy and attempted use of weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. Attorney in Michigan announced this morning. If TPM is not your thing, then there's this from the AP:
A ninth alleged member of a Christian militia group that prepared to battle the Antichrist and the U.S. government was arrested after the FBI played recorded messages from family and friends, who urged the man to give himself up, over loudspeakers outside a home in rural Michigan.Out of fairness (and we are nothing if not fair) we should point out that this is NOT the Michigan Militia and in fact:
Joshua Matthew Stone peacefully surrendered to heavily armed authorities Monday night. His father and seven others believed to be part of the Michigan-based Hutaree appeared in court earlier on charges they plotted to kill a police officer and slaughter scores more by bombing the funeral — all in hopes of touching off an uprising against the government.
Heidi Beirich, research director of the Southern Poverty Law Center, said her group learned about Hutaree last year while compiling its annual list of "patriot groups."They're still religious fanatics and they're still terrorists and they're still Americans.
"Their Christian apocalyptic vision is quite different from most other militias," Beirich said. "Most don't put their religion first — they're more concerned with out-of-control federal government."
As is this guy:
A 38-year-old Philadelphia man was charged today with threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) in a profanity-strewn Youtube video that has since been pulled down.Yea, when you call someone's kids "Lucifer's abominations" you're a religious zealot. And when you make threats based on that zealotry, you're a terrorist.
In the video, Norman Leboon says Cantor will "receive my bullets in your office, remember they will be placed in your heads. You and your children are Lucifer's abominations.
Obviously, you didn't get the memo. SInce these folks are not Musselmen or furriners, by definition, they are not terrorists.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of coverage of this group in the last few days, and not once have I heard the words terror, terrorism, or terrorists.
Hmmm.. seems as though I missed the words terror or terrorism when the Muzzie in TX actually committed a crime against [KILLED, IN PREMEDITATED COLD BLOOD] our soldiers... where the Army KNEW that this Hussein guy was a problem, but PC ruled? Or, could you direct me to the appropriate MSM archive? Maybe, I need to get my mind right. (obscure Cool Hand Luke reference) [Hmmm. Barack HUSSEIN Obama... hmmm. Gotta think about that one. Not ONE, but one.]
ReplyDeleteWaiting.. waiting.. /crickets chriping.
No, of course not, because this never happened. And besides, it only counts when it happens to Republicans.
ReplyDeleteAnd let me just say - it takes a lot of damn nerve to attack our President over Ft. Hood when you voted for the guy who was in office when 3,000 Americans were murdered by a guy we never caught because you conservatives got distracted with a war we didn't have to fight.
It's convenient that that whole "Kept the Country Safe" clock starts the day AFTER the worst terror attack in our history, isn't?
But explain to us, Brownshirt, why it's too much for you to denounce domestic terrorism?
And are you seriously going after the FBI for stopping a plot to murder police officers?
Are you fucking kidding me, Mr. "I love my country so much more than you?"
Why are you even attempting to defend a paramilitary group that was going to attack our government?
So much for all that "9/11 changed everything" bullshit, huh?
Are you even aware of what kind of a political stance you are taking in a public forum?
SHorter CM. "Hey! Look over there!"
