Via Mother Jones:
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.
[snip]
[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.Wow! Just wow.
It's pretty much every negative right wing cliche about Obama voters and we common folk that you hear on FOX. And, pretty much everything you thought Mitt Romney really thought about the 99% -- the stuff that would sometimes slip out in his gaffes.
Like me, you may have already seen some of the video from this event making its way round the internet, but it hadn't been verified. Apparently, David Corn was able to vet it. There's much, much more at Mother Jones (and they promise more still).
Here's the Obama Campaign's reaction (via email):
STATEMENT ON ROMNEY’S BEHIND CLOSED DOORS REMARKS
CHICAGO – “It's shocking that a candidate for President of the United States would go behind closed doors and declare to a group of wealthy donors that half the American people view themselves as ‘victims,’ entitled to handouts, and are unwilling to take ‘personal responsibility’ for their lives. It’s hard to serve as president for all Americans when you’ve disdainfully written off half the nation.”– Jim Messina, Obama for America Campaign Manager

Truth hurts, doesn't it.
The simple truth is that a whole lot of people will vote to keep the gravy train going. I heard a radio ad last week on the Charleston, WV station that said (paraphrasing)..
'If you're on disability it's you right to vote.. politicians determine funding for disability programs..'
And, that, my friends.. *eff it.. you liberal a**holes os the crux of the problem.. too many free-loaders... Oh, I'm NOT talking about TRUE and HONEST disabilties.. I'm talking about the free-loader.. 'I have headaches' 'I have mental issues', etc. crowd.. things that CANNOT be proven.
I STRONGLY believe EVERY SS disability claom should be reviewed every 3-5 years. In fact, I would stop the claim and force the claimant to prove their claim again.
"Truth"?
So Mitt Romney says that all Obama voters do not pay taxes.
Read it again. That is what he said.
You should be out celebrating because Michael More (and hundreds of thousands of others) no longer exist.
Why does it not surprise me that since you already admit that you don't think the elderly should be able to vote by absentee ballot, you'd have a problem with a simple statement that the disabled have a right to vote too...
@CM
"...a whole lot of people will vote to keep the gravy train going." Exactly right. Plenty of middle class, upper middle class, and plain old wealthy people are ecstatic about Romney's plans to increase military spending. Remember what Eisenhower said about the military-industrial complex?
Which type of government expenditure ends up wasting larger sums of taxpayer money, military spending or entitlements?
Anyone Remember the ACORN Edited video talking point from Media Matters that the nutroots parroted?
I would say it applies to this video.
WHERE IS THE FULL UNEDITED VIDEO!!1!!
Was the full Obama "bitter" "clinging to their guns and religion" audio ever released. 'cause I didn't hear it.
But there it is, there is Mitt's bitter clinger moment. The difference is, in many of his statements Mitt has slipped a bit of the crazy in, while Obama is calm and rational 90% or more of the time. Not that Obama doesn't flub lines a fair bit (should have been "you didn't build that alone"), but Obama does not bring the same level of crazy as Mitt (and most of the rest of the GOP candidates from the primaries) does.
CM, we all remember this article that Dayvoe found last year. What put our economy in a hole was the behavior of banks and other financial institutions (Freddie and Fannie contributed, but came in late and started small). Bush took the Clinton surplus and frittered it away on two wars (one where he failed to capture Osama bin Laden at outset when he had the chance, and one where he lied to us to take us into it), irresponsible tax cuts that were supposed to be temporary stimulus measures and now current Republicans refuse to give up and huge spending such as Medicare Part D. Now Obama is stuck with debt from wars, tax cuts and all the unemployment, medicaid, SNAP and other needs from the people Bush put out of work.
As far as Social Security Disability, you can take heart. In the last seven years fifteen thousand people have died waiting for their disability cases to be reviewed67, so that saved on paying them benefits.
CM wants full video = CM knowing how bad Mittens' comments really are.
LOL!
I saw on Facebook - "Mother Jones will be publishing the full Romney donor video in two parts, 49.5 minutes total, at 2:30 EDT."
Presumably 2:30 today.
Mother Jones lied about it being the "Full" video
Critical audio gap in “complete” Romney tape released by Mother Jones (Update – Corn responds, 1-2 minutes missing)
They should have stated that 1-2 minutes missing due to equipment failure when they released the “Full” video.
I guess those were the two minutes were Romney yelled out "Psych! Just kidding!" Right? Cause that's the only way that would make this all better.
Unless, of course, it was Opposite Day.
