And yesterday:
That's Representative John Lewis in both pictures. In the first, he's being beaten by a member of the Alabama State Police for failing to disperse. In the second, well, the point is obvious, isn't it?
By the way, this is what happened in Selma in 1965:
And yesterday:
You can read The President's remarks here.
Some highlights:
What greater expression of faith in the American experiment than this, what greater form of patriotism is there than the belief that America is not yet finished, that we are strong enough to be self-critical, that each successive generation can look upon our imperfections and decide that it is in our power to remake this nation to more closely align with our highest ideals? That's what happened yesterday.
The events of Selma were far more hateful than this:

Yet for some reason, the later event was so hateful that no one in the CBC or their surrogates will not comment on John Lewis being called the N-word by the teabaggers because it was so insulting.

Your second link doesn't say what you say it says. But I guess that is the conservative way, lie about what a link says and assume no one will look.
ReplyDeleteI thought part of it was a mic drop reply to Rudy Giuliani's "he doesn't love America" bs. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteOn one hand you can look at the 50 years and marvel at how far we've come. On the other? I often times wonder if racism simply as gone underground for a while, rearing it's ugly little head from time to time to remind us that it is still a part of our country.
ReplyDeleteEd,
ReplyDeleteSo you are accruing me of fabricating a quote like "conservative" Neil Degrasse Tyson?
I guess you will dismiss this as "out of context" or "edited video" as all progressives do when a video or evidence disproves their narrative.
“And John Lewis has never said on camera,” Christie continued, “reporters have asked him, ‘Did people call you the N-word?’ And he has not said anything.”
“And most of the members said that they would refuse to talk about that day because it was so insulting,” replied Rye.
