Kevin Miller Announcement?

Is something happening at KDKA?

I happen to be home today (don't ask - it's not a pretty story) but afternoon radio-guy Kevin Miller's been saying for an hour or so that there will be an on-air meeting with a member of the CBS management at 2pm today. They will, according to Miller, discussing the direction of the show.

No other details available.

UPDATE 2:08: Statement from the parent company read on the air. In response to a number of complaints about the tone/content of the show regarding Senator Obama's campaign, Senator Obama will be hosting the Kevin Miller show for one three hour show at some time in the future.

Obama will host the show with no input from Miller.

At the end of the statement, KDKA apologises to anyone offended by the Kevin Miller show.

UPDATE 2:51: Trying to get a copy of the statement. Once I can, I'll post it here. On the radio Kevin's listeners are comparing KDKA's decision to Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

  1. John K: Now this is from your local conservative, radical, rightwing fanatic. If they fired Kevin Miller that would not bother me. He is a convenient conservative who you have heard me rail against before in this blog. He wants to be liked so much by liberals that he is always apologizing for being a conservative. Which means you folks in here should be supporting him. Limbaugh rules!

  2. John K: Offensive to Hussein Obama. LOL LOL KDKA is now the left wing mouthpiece replacing Cullen. Get real. I should be the one who should be offended.

  3. What can I do about hacp protecting drug dealers on Chauncey Drive 2541 apt. 234,
and punishing residents who complain about them and their disruption of peaceful enjoyment of HACP residents?
Even Oscar Petite did his own investigation and brought them to court on Oct. 26, 2007. Larry McCloud advised the guilty party to
'File an appeal, the judge said, they only have one peice of evidence against you, it may not be enough to evict you.' They (Flora Harris only paying $25 a month and Anthony Upshaw, a retired garbage man not on the lease and arrested on the property again two days later Oct 28,2007) won the appeal.
No fight from hacp i guess. What do you think? Anthony Upshaw was arrested again on the property last month. Flora Harris still lives there with another drug dealer until Anthony gets home. The saga continues.....
Meanwhile, I am homeless. The fight hacp put up was too much for me. After nine years of residency on Chauncey, six with NO problems then the last three filled with harrassment from dealers, neighbors
and hacp employees made me refuse to go to court agin on Nov 14 2007 (hacp appeal) and leave! Is there anything I can do? Signed,
    HACP Victim

  4. That HAD to be a stunt. And neither Kevin Miller nor the management of KDKA can be so naive as to think Barack Obama (or ANY presidential candidate) is going to take THREE hours to talk on AM radio in a secondary city. Stunt. Poor injured Keven Miller, victim of the liberal media, victim of the new USSA! The Arabs are coming! The Terrorists are taking over! Dogs and Cats living together!!!!

  5. I dunno. Miller seems pretty stunned. One of the first questions Miller asked was "Do I still have a job?" (I paraphrase.) He seemed relieved that he did.

In any case the station APOLOGIZED to anyone offended by Miller's show.

That has to be a big deal.

  6. John K: I keep telling you left wing kooks. It ain't conservatives who practice censorship. Its you liberals. Does Imus ring a bell. I listen to Limbaugh except when he drags then Miller. Miller was not conservative enough for me. But that was totally unprofessional of KDKA management to do that on the air. Totally! But that is exactly how liberals do business. It ain't the conservatives you have to worry about. LOL LOL I am always right.

  7. Sounds like radio pr to me.

"We're replacing Kevin Miller with Barack Obama!"

Then, rabid listeners call in to say how much they love the show.

Then, management announces "Well, ok, because you, our faithful listeners, "demand" it......"

(Cut to the program director's office: "Let's see those bastards over at 104.7 top this!")

  8. KDKA would do the world some good to silence the round mound of sound. But, I don't really need to hear more from Senator Obama. Put on the others who are on the ballot in PA, such as Ralph Nader, Bob Barr and the Constitutional guy. The Green Party didn't make it to the ballot here, FWIW.

  9. Other than John K, C.H., H2T and maybe three or four other people that listen to Kevin Miller why would KDKA bother to apologize.

  10. John K: The real question is who else does Hussein Obama and acorn want silenced? Hmmmm? Stalin does come to mind in this case.

  11. John K: Oh by the way RMH, WDVE leads in ratings with a 9.2 share followed by KDKA with 7.7 and 104.7FM with 6.5. Limbaugh rules the noon to 3pm hours and Honzman from 3pm to 5pm. Cullen is of course unemployed and been replaced by WMNY which talks about money and capitalism. How nice.

  12. This is the craziest news. I can't quite believe it. They might as well have ordered Kevin Miller to be Obama's butler.
