Changes At KDKA Radio

From the ever-reliable Adrian McCoy:
News/talk KDKA-AM (1020) will shake up its programming schedule in the new year, and bring back a voice familiar to the station's regular talk show listeners.
It's a good news/bad news thing. First the good news:
The changes displace current noon-to-3 p.m. host Kevin Miller and evening host John Steigerwald, who were both let go and are now off the air here.
And now the bad:
The station announced yesterday that starting Jan. 5, former KDKA talk host Mike Pintek will return to the station to host an evening talk show weeknights from 6 to 10 p.m.
I wonder if Mike Pintek is still "not convinced" that President-Elect Obama is a US Citizen. I wonder if KDKA asked him.

  1. John K: Miller off the air, good. Now I can go back to listening to KDKA. But you lefties did not make any progress. Honsberger is on from noon to 3PM. LOL And McIntire and Cullen are still doing comedy in clubs and looking for a job. LOL LOL Conservatives rules!

  2. But somehow simple grammar eludes them.

  3. Does anyone under sixty listen to AM radio? I haven't listened to AM since the '70s and I doubt that my 19 year old son even knows that there are still broadcasts on there.

  4. Why is Miller being off the air a good thing? I don't agree with everything he says, but he wasn't as bad as Honzberger. I am happy to see Steigerwald gone because he was just terrible.

  6. So, Pintek will be replaced in 6 to 9 months, is what you're really saying?

  7. I'd be happier if Pintek would come back and replace the morning suck-up/blow-hard, Marty Griffin.

Too bad I'll miss Fred... seems as though my radio is permanently tuned to 104.7 from Noon to 3... I liked listening to Fred even though the 3-4:30 slot was "busy" and short.

  9. Well, of course, that would make you happy, Conservative Mountaineer - Marty isn't a rightwing zombie like Miller, Honzberger and Pintek.

You listen to Michael Savage, don't you? Isn't he on 104.7 in the evenings here in Pittsburgh?

  10. John K: Liberals at the PG get the axe. More conservatives added to KDKA, even though Cullen and McIntire are available. And Dayvoe worries about grammer. No wonder you left wing kooks are losing.

  11. jaywillie..

Nope. Don't listen to Savage.. don't like his style.

I only have the radio on from 12Noon-3:00 M-F.

As for Griffin, I don't like him for a few reasons.. Marty is always screaming "inside information" and "this is significant"... never lives up to the hype and repeats everything repeats everything... just trying to fill airtime. Griffin talks a tough game, but when he interviews 'Lil Lukey and Dan-TheTaxMan-Onorato, he sucks up to them. I find Marty Griffin to be too bombastic and annoying to have on in the background.

  13. Honsberger was the one conservative I used to enjoy listening to. I rarely agreed with him, but at least he was reasonable in tone. But he became completely unhinged in the 2000 election. I remember in the run-up to election day, Hons was ranting about if the electoral college should be done away with, blah blah blah. Why? Because conservatives were worried that Bush would narrowly win the popular vote, and lose in the electoral college. Of course, the exact opposite happened. Once the results became know, Hons instantly dropped his talk about the electoral college and started screaming, literally screaming on the air about how Democrats were stealing the election.

  14. Whooo Hooo! I always loved Pintek. I'm thrilled he is coming back. I wish he would replace Marty however. Talk about beating a dead horse ... day after day after day ....

Shumway and Richert are awful together. They need someone to draw out Richert's humor.

    BTW, only 40 yo here.
