NO!!!

I'm sorry Maria. I'm sorry Bram. I'm sorry Sue. I'm sorry John. I'm sorry Ed. I'm sorry Chad. I'm sorry Virginia. I'm sorry Chris. I'm sorry everyone at the Women's Blogging Society.

But I am sad this evening because my favorite blogger (of all time!) is going away.

Do I need to say who my favorite blogger is? Oh, Bitchpleeze!

This is the bad news (from Huffingtonpost):
According to the king of comedy news, Sean McCarthy (and confirmed by Michaela Watkins), Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson have been fired from the cast of "Saturday Night Live" after just one season.
Watkins offers up this explanation at Entertainment Weekly:
EW: What was Lorne Michaels thinking?

MICHAELA WATKINS: I don’t think anyone knows what Lorne Michaels was thinking. That’s one of the exciting things about him. If he were to vanish the show would just freeze. Not a single thing would be shot because so much hinges on him.

EW: What explanation did he give you?

WATKINS: The only explanation I got from him — and he’s not known to say things just to make people feel better — was that he felt deep down that I should have my own show. And I agreed. SNL was a dream come true for me. It was a fantastic year. I don’t have any regrets.

EW: Lorne fired you because he thought you were good enough to get your own show? What am I missing here?

WATKINS: You tell me. I honestly don’t know. What he said is he’s trying to get what’s best for him and best for me. He said it had nothing to do with talent. And I’m just going to go on that. That was his only explanation. He’s looking at the whole mix of the show and maybe he feels that what I bring would be better served on a sitcom. They hired two new gals [Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad] that I think are going to be exquisite.
My favorite blogger at work:

Lorne Michaels is such a loser.

  1. This character always irritated me, but I can't say it wasn't well acted.

  2. I liked Watkins, but isn't Don Pardo's departure the bigger news?

  3. And here, I thought apologizing too much was a trait exclusive of women. Thank you for dispelling that, Dave. :-)

  4. It figures. SNL added two new women, so, of course, they had to remove two women. Anyone see anything wrong with that? *sigh*

  5. Meanwhile, Mr. Michaels does realize that African-American comedians do exist, rights? Jesus, it's not as though they're Bigfoot or something.
