When Do We Start Calling This Domestic Terrorism?

From The AP Via HuffingtonPost:
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the severing of a gas line at the home of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello's brother following the posting of his address online by Tea Party activists.

The activists are upset with the Virginia congressman's vote in favor of the health care reform.

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that at least 10 members of Congress have requested extra security due to recent threats.
Talkingpointsmemo has a map. Some details:
  • Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-OH), who is on the map above, today said he confronted Minority Leader John Boehner over an interview in which Boehner said Driehaus would be a "dead man" if he voted for the bill. "I think it's really important for folks around here, especially leader Boehner, to understand that his words have consequences," Driehaus said.
  • Sarah Palin posted on Facebook a map of her own -- showing cross-hair graphics over the districts of vulnerable Democrats who backed the health reform legislation. Earlier she tweeted "Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: 'Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!' Pls see my Facebook page."
Then there's this bit of news:
Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) released the following statement today about acts of vandalism in her district. Here's the full text:

There were two events in my district during the last week that were alarming to me and I have reported them to the proper authorities. There was a brick thrown through my Niagara Falls district office and a voice mail referencing snipers that was left on the answering machine of my campaign office. The U.S. Capitol Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local police departments are all aware of these incidents and are still investigating.
Bricks thrown through windows. Physical intimidation. Acts of Vandalism. Death Threats.

Unless the GOP renounces this they own it. All of it.

Until further notice, this is the New GOP.

  1. gee-tiure slashings? no-it's not right-none of it is-but you look sort of silly trying to compare the 2 sides.

  3. HTTT, is there a source besides the "Life News" for your first link? I wonder if they might spin the story just a bit. And your second link is from what, 2004? So, once again, if any Democrat has ever done anything wrong, that justifies cutting the gas line at the brother of a Democratic lawmaker (risking an explosion that could kill the brother, any family he may have, and possibly other people)? That justifies Sarah Palin flirting with suggesting Democratic lawmakers be shot with hunting rifles (not the only possible conclusion, but a fair one, given the language and imagery)?

As Sherry pointed out, no one at ACORN was ever charged with anything. And James O'Keefe was arrested for his antics at Mary Landrieu's office. But if you want to hold him up as your poster boy, be my guest. He is a fine example of how the GOP apparently wants to operate. Death panels and killing grandma. Tell me about no shame.

  4. DOMESTIC TERRORISM...SUCH DRAMA....what about Bill Ayers, a hero of the Obama left...that's terrorism, not some kook making a phone call....what about the black man the SEIU kicked all over the streets...the movies about killing Bush...oh yeah all that is just having fun....many of the dialogues that take place here have a very nasty tone to them...left and right giving each other black eyes....and any level headed person knows that Palin wasn't suggesting killing anyone...Quit the hysteria...

  5. Conservatives cowards equivocating.

Stop making excuses, you conservative losers. Own your rhetoric.

Nice, pathetic attempt to turn that around. I would too if I was in your position, with a clear trail of violent rhetoric going all the way back to the 2008 campaign.

And, yes, you losers will pay a political price for your complete failure to denounce and distance yourselves from this insane rhetoric the right is employing. That's how we do things in this country - not through the violence being advocated by the rightwing in this country.

When you stop supporting the murder of doctors, when you stop advocating for reprisals against democratically elected officials, when you stop cheering people for flying planes into our buildings...

Sometimes I can't tell who hates our government more - the terrorists or the American rightwing.

  6. So does that mean Democrats and liberals "owned" it when we heard constant assassination jokes and threats concerning George Bush? Did Democrats own it when "The Assassination of George Bush" was released to theaters? Did liberals and the Democrats own it when George Bush's effigy was burned or hanged at protests? WHen George Bush was compared to Adolf Hitler? Does that mean Barack Obama owns the terrorist actions of Bill Ayres or the racism of Jeremiah Wright? The notion that the Republican Party is responsible for the actions of protestors because they also opposed the health care bill is absolutely ludicrous. Just as ludicrous as the notion that the Democratic Party owned the actions of the violently antiwar left or those who smash the windows at Starbucks or McDonalods over some silly random fit of outrage that overtakes those on the left on a weekly basis.

Funny how the left goes apeshit over guilt-by-association charges (see Wright, Jeremiah or Ayres, Bill) when they are being levied by the right, only to turn around and do the same things themselves. Also, I eagerly await the report from this website over the hundreds of death threats Sarah Palin received a couple of days ago on Twitter, as reported by multiple websites.

If John Boehner is responsible for the actions of someone he has never met, than Barack Obama is a terrorist-sympathizing racist.

And the notion that nobody from ACORN has ever been charged with anything is ludicrous.

Google "ACORN and indictment" and you will get hundreds of links, because they have had indictments handed down against them in over a dozen states(I think the number is actually closer to 20); an ACORN "activist" was recently convicted in Ohio. The notion that ACORN has never been arrested or indicted for anything is pure bullshit.

For the left, dissent ceased being the highest form of patriotism on January 20, 2009. This hilarious quote sums it up perfectly:
"Sometimes I can't tell who hates our government more- the terrorists or the American rightwing." Hey Jaywillie, why don't you tell us how much you loved the government from the years 2001 through January 19, 2009. Yeah, that is what I thought, hypocrite. The notion that the GOP owns the actions of random protesters is quite simply one of the stupidest things I have read in ages, almost as stupid as the assertion that ACORN has never been charged with anything before. Never mind the indictments in 19 states.

  7. My favorite bogus death threat claim comes from Steve Driehaus's spokesman who claimed a window was thrown threw Driehaus's office window ON THE THIRTIETH FLOOR of an office building. Evidently, the Tea Party protesters resurrected Roberto Clemente and had him throwing rocks in downtown Cincinnati. Such charges are more bogus than John Lewis's claims that he was called a nigger fifteen times, even though no such evidence is anywhere to be found on the videotapes his staff recorded.

That should read: My favorite bogus death threat comes from Steve Driehaus's spokesman who claimed a rock was thrown through Driehaus's office window.

  9. Um, Ayers was a weatherman many, many years ago. The charges against him were dropped in large part apparently because the government thought it could break its own laws.

As I understand it, the voter registration fraud issues with ACORN occur because ACORN brings registration forms with names, addresses or what ever that it can not verify to the attention of voter board authorities. So ACORN called voter registration forms into question, and in turn ACORN employees were indicted.

When you say an ACORN "activist" was convicted in Ohio, do you mean a full time ACORN employee or someone hired just to register voters? What were they convicted of? etc etc

Still, you've gotten your wish, ACORN has disbanded nationally, although some chapters are reforming locally under different names. Still, it is likely thousands of poor people will not get the help they need because of that. A great day for conservatives.
