More Faith-Based Anti-Science On The Way

From The Washington Post:
Sen. James M. Inhofe, an the Oklahoma Republican who once compared the Environmental Protection Agency to the Gestapo, is likely to lead the Environment and Public Works Committee when the GOP takes control of the Senate next year.
And then there's this:
In his 2012 book, “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” Inhofe describes himself as a lonely crusader against an environmental-liberal conspiracy. “First I stood alone in saying that anthropogenic [man-made] catastrophic global warming is a hoax,” he wrote.
And let's not forget where at least some of teh crazie comes from:
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) appeared on Voice of Christian Youth America’s radio program Crosstalk with Vic Eliason yesterday to promote his new book The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future, where he repeated his frequent claim that human influenced climate change is impossible because “God’s still up there.” Inhofe cited Genesis 8:22 to claim that it is “outrageous” and arrogant for people to believe human beings are “able to change what He is doing in the climate.”
This is Genesis 8:22:
As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest, cold and heat,
summer and winter, day and night,
shall not cease.’
Yes, that's right. That's why all the science is wrong.

Senator James Inhofe, the picture of the the GOP's faith-based non-science.

  1. Renewables are there for the taking. No frack water. No trapped miners. No oil spills. No pipelines.

    The solar panels on my roof are useful for 30 years. I rolled the purchase into my mortgage. By the time their usefulness expires along with my mortgage, they will have paid for themselves 130%. That happens even if the rates don't go up during that time! This isn't science, this is 8th grade math.

    Inhofe's bread is buttered with oil. His grandchildren will bear the fallout of his greed rather than he himself. Perhaps he believes the biblical nonsense too, making him a greedy ignoramus. In either case, he orates "as long as the earth endures" as license to take a $h!t on it. As the anthropocentric stewards of earth, god forbid we use our god given minds to come up with a better method to boil water and get to work. It would all be baffling were it not for the money factor.

    In the 111th Congress, the Democrats had a 60-seat, filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and a large majority in the House. If the Democrats really wanted to do it, they could have passed climate change legislation. But, they did not. Instead, they did absolutely nothing. The House passed a cap-and-trade bill, 219-212, which then died in the Senate. Harry Reid, the Democratic Majority Leader, did not even call a vote on the bill.

    Why is Phil Plait blaming Republicans, but not Democrats? Well, you can answer that question.

    How much did the solar panels cost and how much power do they produce?

    Cost = (30 yr * 365.25 * 24 * KWH produced) *.015 (Curr Price KWH)

    Cost = ( 262980 * KWH produced) *.015 (Curr Price KWH)

  4. My electric company charges $.15/kWh, not .015

    I bought a 7,000kWh system for $24,500. The only problem I've had with it was the pipe breach on the drilling rig spilling all that oil all over my roof. Oops, sorry. That was BP and it was the Gulf of Mexico. My mistake.
