So what you're suggesting is....because Oliver's show is considered a comedy show (or at least that's your semantics), OR because it is not considered a "news" show, OR because some people (not you obviously) accept Oliver's story's as gospel, that the show, or at very least, the story in this specific instance forfeits any and all credibility.
I totally remember that lecture in my Logic class back in the day at CCAC. I think they classify that as a logical fallacy. Or as I call it these days, a "logical cuckacy". That's my semantics.
