Questions for PA State Senator Doug Mastriano

Just look at all that happened yesterday.

First, there's this from the US Senate:

Chairman Bennie G. Thompson today announced that the Select Committee has issued additional subpoenas seeking testimony and records related to the “Stop the Steal” rally that took place on the grounds of the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021. The subpoenas seek deposition testimony from Ali Abdul Akbar, also known as Ali Alexander, and Nathan Martin, who are connected to permit applications for the rally, and request the production of records from those individuals and from Stop the Steal, LLC, an organization affiliated with the event.

You can find the report here

And then there's this from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

An investigation by U.S. Senate Democrats has singled out two Pennsylvania Republicans — U.S. Rep. Scott Perry and State Sen. Doug Mastriano — as key figures who used false and debunked theories to pressure the country’s top law enforcement officials to investigate the state’s 2020 presidential election results.

I'm thinking the part the Senate Report to which The Inky is referring is this:

It's on page 4 if you wanted to go look for yourselves.

Then on page 26 you can find:

And then on page 48 you can find this recommendation:

I'll type it out in case you didn't want to click on the image:

As discussed throughout this report, President Trump’s efforts to enlist DOJ and its leadership in his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election were aided by numerous allies with clear ties to the “Stop the Steal” movement and the January 6 insurrection. As Trump himself noted to Rosen and Donoghue on December 27, he and his congressional allies could effectively position themselves to overturn the presidential election results with cover from DOJ, asking DOJ to “just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the [Republican] Congressmen.”

Three of these allies and their connections to January 6 are particularly notable: U.S. Representative Scott Perry, Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano, and Trump campaign attorney Cleta Mitchell. These ties warrant further investigation to better place Trump’s efforts to enlist DOJ in his efforts to overturn the presidential election in context with the January 6 insurrection. Because the events of January 6 are outside the immediate purview of the Committee’s investigation, this report is being made available to the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, as well as the public, to assist their investigation. [Emphasis added.]

But back to that rally. Do you remember that PA State Senator Doug Mastriano was listed as among the "Invited Speakers & Featured Guests" at that Stop The Steal rally on January 6?

You should. We wrote about it on January 10

The Wayback Machine has a screen capture of their webpage. Scroll down and you can see this:

Pennsylvania State Senator was at the rally, he was mentioned by name by Donald Trump as being one of his "R. Congressmen" who were going to help him overturn the election. He was part of the misinformation communication chain that fueled the riot/insurrection/coup attempt.

Will some intrepid PA journalist please ask him:

  • What does he know about the rally?
  • Does he expect to be subpoenaed by the Congress?
  • What will he do if he's called to testify?

This is still a free society, right? With a free press, right?

Just how deeply is Doug Mastriano embedded in the insurrection?
