Lima, Nov. 23 (ANDINA).- Peru has successfully promoted its national drink "Pisco Sour" during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit, Peru’s Environment Minister Antonio Brack said Sunday.

He noted that the flagship drink of Peru was well acepted by international guests, including Japan's Prime Minister, Taro Aso.

"Pisco Sour has been the "star" of the APEC Summit, the drink was served in several meetings at the Government Palace and the APEC Summit venue,” he told CPN Radio.

"We have achieved to place our products including pisco on international markets, but also kiwicha, sweet potatoes and traditional Peruvian potatoes", said Brack.

U.S. President George W. Bush, who quit drinking at 40, was apparently drinking a Peruvian cocktail during a meeting on Saturday.

Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing Pisco (a Peruvian brandy), lemon juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and regional bitters.

  2. John K: Hey I thought the man-god was all about change. So why is his cabinet stuffed with old Clinton people? And why did he attend a lobby sponsored event at the DNC HQ which featured what lobbyists can do for his admin? Change? You left wingers are so dumb you bought into it. LOL LOL LMAO I always get the last laugh on you lefties.

  4. you are the child.

bush is an alcoholic. he will have that disease forever. he can not/should not drink and this picture gives creedence to the rumors that he has been drinking for some time now.

my late father was an alcoholic. it runs in his family. he stopped drinking when i was 30. alcoholism is no joke. it's an addiction.

this man here is still our president. think about that for a few moments before you say something else stupid.

  5. Perhaps the President was given a virgin Pisco, if there is such a thing. One can only hope.

  6. John K: So Sherry just because you can't control your drinking don't indict everyone else. Your faults, no matter how you would like it to be, are not the faults of others. To post this video shows how simple minded the left has become. Makes Dayvoe look pathetic in his effort to criticize Bush.

  7. i thankfully am not an alcoholic but i understand it very well and i do know that i very well could be prone to it.

i said that my late father was. can't your read or are your comprehension skills THAT poor?

it is not simple minded. to think that perhaps this countries policies have been formed by a man under the direct influence of a drug (and that IS what alcohol is) addiction is just terrible.

  8. Alcohol (or even being a "dry drunk") can't be blamed for Bush Jr.'s performance in public office. (See: Churchill, Winston.) The culprits appear to be stupidity, arrogance, ignorance, and similar attributes. And, sadly, a system that puts the son and grandson of a president and a senator into our nation's highest office despite a lifelong lack of independent achievement and the fact that he was a no-count drunk until age 40.

  9. This really is pointless. For all we know, he's drinking 2% milk.

Listen, Dubya is a nitwit, but this entire "dry drunk" meme is just silly, and, at this moment in history, it's irrelevant.

And no matter what you think of the pathetic sap, who wouldn't be imbibing at this point? Can we move on?

  10. Um, John, George W. Bush is the reformed alcoholic. At this point I assume you keep your head so firmly up your ass for the warmth.

And I have to disagree with you, Clyde.

The article says the President was drinking a cocktail, and they are most often made with alcohol.

Does it matter? Yes, it matters, because this President is a recovering alcoholic. I don't want him any where near a drink; he's not competent sober.

And for pathetic, John, see Sarah Palin, the Republican Party and contemporary conservatism.

  12. Actually, maybe Bush should just go away and drink himself into oblivion. It would be better for everyone, because he certainly doesn't seem interested in finishing his term acting like an adult or, (gasp!), the President.

  13. It's Bush himself who said he drank too much before the age of 40 and Bush who claimed that he swore off drinking in 1986 with the aid of Billy Graham.

Controversy about alcohol and drug usage have dogged Bush throughout his life. Two of the most notable examples:

    1) Bush got Alberto Gonzales to get him off jury duty during his first term as governor ostensibly because as "governor had the power to pardon a defendant, it would be inappropriate to have him also decide his guilt or innocence" but in actually so that he would not have to answer questions under oath about whether he had ever been arrested -- a question which all jurors have to answer -- and one that Bush would have had to answer in the affirmative for his arrest for drunk driving.

    2) Starting in 1972 Bush refused to take physical exams for the Air Force and was subsequently grounded (squandering all the taxpayer money spent on his training). His refusal came after they announced that they would start testing for drugs.

Clyde, click on the picture to see a much larger version. If you think the substance in that goblet is milk, then remind me never to drink milk at your house because milk that color and consistency would be very sour. Besides, here's the caption for the photo David posted (US president, George W. Bush, drinking Peruvian Pisco Sour. Photo: ANDINA/Carlos Lezama).

Finally, I want to know what John K is imbibing if he can't tell the difference between a video and a photograph ("To post this video shows how simple minded the left has become").

  14. John K: I don't really think being a reformed alcholic bothers the left that much. After all Chris Matthews is one and you lefties hang onto his every word. Besides Hussein Obama sold crack cocaine to help defer college expenses. So stop being hypocrites. LOL LMAO You can't win,

  16. Maria -

My comment about milk was, more or less, meant in jest. I don't take issue with what a witless, hopeless and downright evil President W has been, I just see this as "beating a dead horse" at this point....

And did you know, BTW, that John K. sold magic mushrooms to help offset his grade school education?

It's true! And it explains a lot....

  17. There's nothing wrong with being a reformed alcoholic. Maybe you should read what people actually post, John K.?

There is everything wrong with a reformed alcoholic, who just happens to occupy the most powerful position in the world, having a drink. It's called relapse.

But really, John. You're so sad and pathetic you resort to telling a flat-out lie about Obama.

Is that what you've been reduced to, John? A sychophantic liar?
