‘Kevin’s Kingpin Primary’

KDKA radio host Kevin Miller has invited the presidential candidates to a bowling match. We think if there was an actual bowl-off it would look a little something like this:

First up: Barack Obama

Then, Hillary Clinton takes her best shot

Followed by John McCain

KDKA’S KEVIN MILLER SUGGESTS ANOTHER WAY TO SETTLE SCORE IN PENNSYLVANIA PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

Clinton, Obama and McCain invited to bowl in ‘Kevin’s Kingpin Primary’

PITTSBURGH, April 3, 2008 – NewsRadio 1020 KDKA midday talk host Kevin Miller has invited Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain to a bowling match later this month in Butler County.

The event – “Kevin’s Kingpin Primary” – is planned for Friday, April 18, noon-3 pm at Mars Lanes in Mars, Pa. It will air live on KDKA and stream at KDKAradio.com. Three teams consisting of KDKA listeners – and perhaps the Democratic and Republican candidates – will compete for political bragging rights.

“What we’re hoping to accomplish is to give the candidates a taste of something uniquely western Pennsylvania,” said Miller, a Cranberry resident who is part of a league – “The Outlaws” – which bowls Saturday nights at Mars Lanes. “There’s nothing more patriotic than loving America, voting and bowling.”

Miller believes he was first to introduce bowling’s popularity into the Pennsylvania primary campaign – long before Obama visited an alley in Altoona last weekend, and Clinton on April Fool’s Day challenged her Democratic opponent, tongue-in-cheek, to a “bowl-off.”

Said Miller, a frequent guest on national cable TV talk shows: “I mentioned this on [CNBC’s] “Hardball” last month, and on CNN two weeks ago. I invited them to come out and bowl, have a Primanti’s sandwich and show us that they’re one of us.”

Listeners who wish to join one of the teams can register at KDKAradio.com. They’re asked to state in up to 50 words why they want to bowl on their candidate’s team. Miller will choose team members from the best entries.

Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato has agreed to captain Clinton’s team. KDKA Morning News host Larry Richert will serve as “celebrity bowling commissioner.”

  2. Bigotry is in the eyes of the beholder. If anybody listens to The Round Mound - that man could never be acused of bigotry, just stupidity. he's sponsoring this farce to try and get some respect back. He has slammed Pittsburgh from every angle. He's obsessed in hating Luke.Remarked that if Pittsburgh had a "real" paper, we could not all be such Hicks. I never thought KDKA would ever sink this low. As for the McKane photo (supposedly, I know), I would bet that even with his permantly injured body,(as a resuult of being a POW for 5 years)He would outbowl any youger man there. Even the very round one.

  3. His injured body was from being shot down and the resulting crash, not from being a POW. Other GI's were tortured not McCain. He was named Songbird by the NV's, for obvious reasons.

  4. McKane not tortured? Oh yeah, after he stupidly crashed his plane, the Vietnamese gave him the best medical attention and really coddled him. I'm glad they didn't let him lie there in isolation, all broken-up, hungry and thirsty. He probabbly didn't even miss his kids. What a breeze! Anybody could do it.

  5. Kevin Miller loves Pittsburgh. He prays for us every night after woofing down 5 or 6" Burghers".

  6. Does "singing" indicate the giving of information that aids the Enemy? All these Attacks on america have been prevented because we treated our POW's so well that they just helped us out. I guess that's a pretty good song.
