Looks like there's more info on that "ad hoc" committee. An update from the Washington Post:
The White House plans to create an ad hoc group of select federal scientists to reassess the government’s analysis of climate science and counter conclusions that the continued burning of fossil fuels is harming the planet, according to three senior administration officials.The purpose of the committee is reportedly to invalidate this report, issued in November. The National Security Council initiative would include scientists who question the severity of climate impacts and the extent to which humans contribute to the problem, according to these individuals, who asked for anonymity to discuss internal deliberations

I would like to see some billionaire or energy company create a parallel network of 1000/10,000/50,000 temperature sensors/stations to compare with the GISS dataset.
I bet progressives would try to pass a law outlawing that.
Maybe its easier to consider in different light. Once you accept that everything that begins eventually ends, including human civilization, its just easier to accept that a screwed up climate being the cause could be just as plausible as a pandemic disease outbreak or a nuclear holocaust or invasion by AI. Although with pushback like this, it's doubtful we will know until it's all over. In which case we won't know because we'll all be dead, except for those spared via rapture.
Be careful not to mistakenly think that earth and humanity will necessarily end simultaneously. While certainly not impossible, that'd be far to coincidental and honestly, plain arrogance. Earth or some likeness of it will be here with maybe a cockroach or two.
