Rep Scott Perry And The Congressional Gold Medal Legislation And The 1/6 Insurrection

In The Washington Post:

The Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved legislation awarding the Congressional Gold Medal — the legislative branch’s highest honor — to the U.S. Capitol Police and others who defended the Capitol against a violent mob of Trump supporters on Jan. 6.

Tuesday’s action closes out more than six months of quiet debate over how to best honor the officers who battled the rioters who were determined to disrupt the counting of electoral votes on Jan. 6.

The bill now goes to President Biden, who is expected to sign it.

You remember January 6, right?

I only ask because some of our more Trumpist brethren and sistren seem to think it was less of a coup attempt than it was.

In any event, digging into WaPo's reporting, we find this:

Twenty-one House Republicans on Tuesday voted against awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to all police officers who responded to the Jan. 6 violent attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob.

The measure passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support from 406 lawmakers. But the 21 Republicans who voted “no” drew immediate condemnation from some of their colleagues, and the vote underscored the lingering tensions in Congress amid efforts by some GOP lawmakers to whitewash the events of that day. [Emphasis added.]

Who were those 21 Republicans and did any of them have a connection to Pennsylvania?

Anyone have any clue as to where this is leading?

Here

Filter the list to look at just the Pennsylvania delegation. On that list you'll find the one Pennsylvania representative who voted "Nay" on the legislation and that one representative is Scott Perry.

Yes, the same Scott Perry recently discovered to be deeply entwined in Donald Trump's election corruption.

Representative Scott Perry:

  • Forwarded the lie about the 250K "extra" votes in Pennsylvania to the DOJ and (presumably) Donald Trump
  • Was the connection between Trump and Jeffrey Clark - the guy that Trump wanted to replace Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen with. Clark was among those devising a plan to "Stop The Steal."

So yea, that guy.

How deeply involved is Scott Perry in Trump's Big Lie? Has any reporter asked him?

I really wish someone would.
