Speaking of WPXI...

Rob Owen writes about WPXI's numerous production problems in his Post-Gazette blog here.

I'm not a regular viewer of PXI but I was watching yesterday (to catch the Ravenstahl stories: here and here) and the screen would go blank, the sound would cut out and the video often didn't match the story being reported on by the news anchors.

Now if only they had introduced a story about our mayor with the video of the giant pumpkin:

WPXI has a rep for having bad production. We used to watch it in the shop during lunch just to look for screw ups. Every single day their noon news had issues at some point.

Production problems have also become a common occurene at 6PM news, 7PM Jeopardy, and 7:30PM Wheel of Fortune. Numerous times I have called the station to complain but they just seem to have a calmness and say "yea, we're aware of it" just like they really don't care about viewer complaints. One time recently when I called I made the comment that it was getting so bad that I was going to start watching one of their competitors stations, and their comment back was something like "OK".
