And We Have A Winner! Deep Throat Is...

W. Mark Felt

ABC interrupted Preznit Chimpy McFlightsuit's press conference to announce that W. Mark Felt (who held the second most senior position at the FBI) has admitted that he is "Deep Throat." The story will be in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.

Felt said he was "only doing his duty" and did not seek to bring down Nixon over the cover-up of a break-in at Democratic Party offices in the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C.

Carl Bernstein, who with Bob Woodward broke the story as Washington Post reporters, issued a statement neither denying nor confirming Felt's claim. Bernstein stated he and Woodward would be keeping their pledge to reveal the source only once that person dies.

Full story HERE.

Only one question now: Who will be the Bush Administration's Deep Throat?

Any takers? Or is the Republic too far gone for any amount of leakers to help us now?

It's too far gone Maria......

Honest Republicans no longer exist.

I would dispute that statement. It's just that they don't work in the administration, where such a premium is placed on loyalty and ideological purity that no one with anything important to disclose is going to leak it.

Paul O'Neil had a thing or two to say if I recall, but was dismissed as a "disgruntled ex-employee."

Bullshit, anonymous. While neo- and theo-cons do have a stranglehold on the Republican party, it is no more accurate to say that honest republicans no longer exist than it is to say that non-socialist democrats no longer exist.

Here's 3 names of Republicans (2 in office, 1 former governor who may become a candidate for governor of a different state) that put paid to you hyperbole.

Rep. Ron Paul
Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Governor Bill Weld

How about Bob Barr? You may not like him (I don't like most of his politics) but he's one of the leading opponents of the [anti-]PATRIOT act -- and people with different agendas have to learn to work together (like Bob Barr does with the ACLU) and lay aside differences on some issues to stop the assaults on our most fundamental principles of America.

I'm still waiting for the indictments to come down in the Plame affair. I'm sure that the reason that Fitzgerald is pressing his case against the two reporters to reveal their sources before the grand jury is that he needs corroboration of who Novak said his sources were, not just for an indictment on the matter of leaking the name of a CIA operative but also for perjury.

Let's see Lewis Libby being led from the White House in handcuffs.

Bush is not the Teflon president anymore....he is losing more battles (see ), but we do need a change in direction and rather quickly, away from the neofascist state we are rapidly becoming.

Anecdotal? True Story? Here's an
excerpt:

So I heard the moving van pull up this morning. When I got home this evening I happened to spy my neighbor (he's like 85 years old - I don't know exactly, but he's old, talks and moves very slowly) standing on the sidewalk next to the van. I walked over and shook his hand, and we started talking. I asked him where he was moving, and he said, "Back to Germany."

I had been stationed in Germany for two years while in the military, so I lit up, and commented about how beautiful the country was, and inquired if he was going back because he missed it.

"No," he answered me. "I'm going back because I've seen this before." He then commenced to explain that when he was a kid, he watched with his family in fear as Hitler's government committed atrocity after atrocity, and no one was willing to say anything. He said the news refused to question the government, and the ones who did were not in the newspaper business much longer.
