How did they get here? (Updated)

Looking at our stat counter, it appears that quite a few people have arrived at this blog in the past few days by way of a two-year old post -- this one:
Pat Toomey: "My idea of gun control is a steady aim"
Hmm, I wonder if he wants to revise that statement?

UPDATE: Here's video of Toomey making his "joke" (Thanks, OPJ):

Staying true to tradition, I have once again failed to acknowledge this blog's birthday on it's birthday (September 6). Eight years ago, this blog had only two readers -- David and I. A big thank you to all of the rest of you who've joined us!

2 Political Junkies named in Washington Post's The Fix’s best state-based political blogs

2 Political Junkies was named in Washington Post's The Fix’s Best State-based Political Blogs for 2011. We were also named in 2009 (there was no list for 2010). We are the only PA blog to make both lists (which may say more about our obsessiveness than anything else).

We thank The Fix and WE THANK OUR READERS!

Here are the other winners for Pennsylvania:

Congratulations to all!

I'll be on PCNC’s "NightTalk: Get to the Point" tomorrow night

I'll be a panelist on tomorrow's PCNC TV's NightTalk: Get to the Point (Channel 35 on Comcast.)

The show will air live on Friday, July 22nd from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM (with repeats at 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM).

The program commonly features conversation on a wide range of topics local to Pittsburgh, the Southwestern Pennsylvania region and some national items. Expect anything from the Pittsburgh Pirates to Marcellus Shale.

The host will be P.J. Maloney.

Also appearing will be Dale McCoy whose Blue Collar Commentary blog can be found on conservative radio host Glen Meaken's website. I heard that McCoy describes himself as a "Tea Party Democrat." (Say what?) Don't know who the third panelist will be.

Tune in -- it should be interesting!

2 Political Junkies shares "Best Political Blog in the Pittsburgh Region" - PoliticsPA

PoliticsPA recently set about determining what are the best political blogs in Pennsylvania. Deservedly won were:

Best Overall Political Blog: Capitol Ideas, Allentown Morning Call
Best Print-Backed Blog: Early Returns, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
(Though, personally, I would have reversed those.)

And, then there was this:

Hey, we're happy to share the distiction with Early Returns.

A big THANK YOU to PoliticsPA and everyone who participated!

How did you find us?

Apparently many are finding us the past couple of weeks by searching for images of "Sarah Palin Rudolph" and getting to this post via this image:

(Next Up: Sarah Palin's heartwarming Christmas Eve interview
-- where she hunts down, kills and field-dresses Rudolph.)

Happy to oblige!

Ultimate "liberal's" gift basket which we awarded in
a random drawing to an audience member. The Mao
Tse-tung statue came from the desk of Pittsburgh
City Paper Editor Chris Potter (complete with a
letter of authenticity). It also appeared on a City
Paper cover for their War of Words story:

We'll put up a link to the podcast of our session once it's been posted.

Finally, some shout-outs:
