Who is Linda Minger?

Linda is a Democrat running in the special election for the Pennsylvania State House in the 131st District, in Allentown, PA. Linda is dedicated to improving and expanding green space, working to provide more early childhood education opportunities, and reducing the tax burden on seniors who are struggling with the rising cost of taxes and health care. This is an incredible opportunity to elect a Democrat to the House and to take a House seat back from the Republicans. Linda Minger's election to office will add another voice in Harrisburg for Democratic values and will put us on a path to take back the House! We only need to take 11 seats back for a Democratic majority. Could you imagine, a Blue State being run by a Blue legislature!

Why should you get involved in Allentown?

First, because this is a classic D vs. R race and the race is competitive, with Linda currently ahead in the polls. The special election is July 19th and there is NO OTHER MAJOR ELECTION between now and then.

Second, Allentown is America! In 2004, CBS News used Allentown as a barometer for the Presidential election because it has the proper mix of people in terms of race, gender, religious beliefs, union affiliation, sexual orientation and political party membership needed to reflect the nation. "No area is more of a perfect proxy for the country as a whole," said Chris Borick, a political science professor and pollster at Muhlenberg College. If we can win over the hearts and minds of Allentown, we can do the same statewide in 2006 and nationwide in 2008!

Why us?

Democrats around the state, from Allentown to Zelienople, are working on this race to elect Linda. It’s a winnable race- with your help! Linda Minger has strong support and is currently ahead in the polls. This race will also set the tone for the larger races coming in 2006, the re-election of Governor Ed Rendell and the ouster of Senator Santorum. By showing that Democrats can work together to elect Linda Minger, at a time when there is no other major election until November, we will demonstrate that Democrats are the party of choice for Pennsylvania and start to build momentum toward next year.
