Happy Birthday to 2 Political Junkies!

2 Political Junkies is one year old today. We started this blog as an outlet to express our thoughts on the political scene at large. As it was created two months before a national election, the initial focus was on national politics but it's grown to include local Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh politics as well.

A quick glance at 2PJ leaves no doubt that we have a decidedly progressive slant. The very first post, in fact, was a Bush-basher and it was the first of many. Though at this point, it's possible that Lil Ricky Santorum may have accrued more criticism here -- let's call it a tie for now.

In the past year, we've been called "a jocular liberal blog" by Slate and "classy" by Ann Coulter fans...Ok, the full quote was, "Classy. They deserve a bullet in the head, not our pity."

The Other Political Junkie here is more than capable of reminiscing on this blog's first year, so this is all my own personal take on it.

First, I want to say that it's been a real pleasure working with The Other Political Junkie. We rarely discuss what we'll write about beforehand and there's been surprisingly little overlap (though he does occasionally have a nasty habit of calling dibbs on some good stories ;-D ). I also appreciate the fact that many may come here solely for his reasoned and well-researched stories versus my often foul-mouthed rants.

Second, I want to sincerely thank EVERYONE who reads and comments on this blog. It's also been a real kick to meet some of you in person. I wasn't sure what we could expect in terms of readership and I'm gobsmacked to think that we've somehow managed to get 41,000 hits in the past year (80% of those in the last six months).
