Jim Quinn is a (well armed) terrorist!

I was listening to 104.7 this morning on the way to work and I heard local right-wing nutcase Jim Quinn (of the Quinn and Rose morning show) rant on a few interesting topics.

For instance he believes that the Plame case is proof that the CIA is attempting a coup (yes, a coup) .

But the big news is what he said at the end of this sentence (and I am paraphrasing here). He said, "Bush for all his faults, this is what I like about the guy: he hates Washington. We have to remember that Washington is our Palace of Versailles. We should nuke the place-we'd be better off."

Let me make this clear: Jim Quinn said this morning that it would be a good idea to attack our nation's capitol with one or more nuclear weapons.

And remember Quinn is the guy (in the words of Chris Potter):
...the guy who walks around the office with a sidearm strapped to his waist.
So he's armed AND he's a nutcase AND he wants to nuke Washington.

How long do you think it'll take Bush's Department of Homeland Security to investigate homegrown terrorist?

Please, get a sense of humor. Quinn, like most radio personalities, particularly talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mike Malloy, Randy Rhodes, Howard Stern, Don & Mike, and Thom Hartmann are, first and foremost, entertainers. All of them have said equally "outrageous" things. Randy Rhosdes regularly plays an audio bit where there's a gunshot related to a comment about President George Bush--the inference is that somebody is shooting the president---she isn't REALLY encouraging her listeners to go out and assassinate the president. It's an audio joke, and I get it. Or how about Mike Malloy's signature tag line: "Have I told you today how much I hate these people?" I'd venture to say that, as a peace-loving, kinder, gentler Liberal, he doesn't REALLY hate every Republican. that would be preejudicial! It's a radio "bit". It's his unique "handle" that separates him from the gaggle of other radio talk-show hosts. It's part of the business, and I get it. And it's okay. It's called satire. Is it offensive? Sure. Do I have to listen to it? no, but I choose to listen because I want to have well-rounded input from different viewpoints. It's their right to express their opinion and it may offend me, but it's my decision whether or not to be offended, and it's not my place to force them off the air just because I don't like them. I simiply won't listen to the show if it's too offensive. And this is the beauty of the capitalist, free-market society. If what I offer the public is something they want, they'll pay for it. If the product is bad, not enough people will wnat it, and there won't be enough money for it to survive. Bad products will disappear on their own---unless some bureaucracy or person interferes with the natural financial life-cycle (like the FCC or George Soros, for example).
Finally, just as a point of reference, I've listened to Jim Quinn since his early days on AM radio in Pittsburgh on KQV in the 1960s (gives you an idea of my age, doesn't it?), and later on what is now known as B-94 (WBZZ). Believe me, he was not a screaming conservative. He was considered a screaming liberal "shock-jock" (although mild in comparison to today's real shock-jocks i.e. Stern) and he offended many parents in his day. He supported legalized marijuana and opposed the Vietman war.
As the years passed, he (and I) grew up and matured in our thinking. There's a passage in the Bible (1st Corinthians) often quoted that says, basically, "When I was a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways." Quinn's socio-political views have evolved and changed. His penchant for "rankling the establishment" has remained constant. He's still offending people, it's just that the offended ones are the kids from the 60's and 70's--and in many cases their children--who've grown up physically but continue to think like adolescents.

It's not hearsay that Quinn walks around with a gun on his hip. I used to work in a movie theater in the South Hills suburbs of Pittsburgh, and Quinn came up to the ticket window to purchase a ticket for a movie that was no longer showing (figures, always behind the times...). When informed of that fact, he stalked away without a word, and as I watched him go, I noticed he had a small semi-auto handgun, probably a 9mm like a Glock or similar, in a nylon holster on his belt. I couldn't believe it. This wasn't exactly a high crime area (other than real esate prices...). I was sure I knew why Quinn would probably say he was wearing it, but my opinion is because he's probably afraid that he'll run into someone he's pissed off on his show. Either that or he thinks Clinton is still gunning for him.

that live in the real world know, how wonderful our government IS!!!!!!!!

If a flaming liberal says he's a nutcase, he must be ok.

They're leaking military secrets to the enemy press (New York Times) during a time of war. They're doing everything they can to undermine the president's efforts to stop the terrorists who WANT US DEAD! Sound like they're working on a coup to me.

What's wrong with that?

One might not be enough. Use a half dozen or so just to make sure.

And remember Quinn is the guy (in the words of Chris Potter):...the guy who walks around the office with a sidearm strapped to his waist. So he's armed AND he's a nutcase AND he wants to nuke Washington.

With a city full of psycho mailmen, people who hang out at the Thomas Murton center and agents of the Daily KOS: he should DEFINATELY be armed.

As long as it will take him to send some FBI agents over to the local mosque.

You're a dolt. By your rationale, Thomas Jefferson was a terrorist as well. ("The tree of liberty...")

Oh, I get it. They're satirists, like Stephen Colbert. See, now, that's what I had originally thought when I first heard them, but then I kept on running into these nutcases that were sincerely believing in and echoing what they were saying. But, since you put it like that, you're right! Quinn is hilarious; gotta' love some good satire!
