BUSH IS A GODDAMN LYING BASTARD

The lying, corrupt and incompetent Bush Administration has been a "catastrophe within a catastrophe."

Bush declared four days after Katrina hit, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees"

However, the video here proves that he was advised of this possibility during an August 28th briefing -- the day before Katrina hit shore.

As the video clearly demonstrates a top hurricane expert voiced "grave concerns'' about the levees. Moreover, Michael Brown (then Federal Emergency Management Agency chief) warned the president and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that he feared that this was a "big one" and that there weren't enough disaster teams to help evacuees at the Superdome.

Bush did not ask one single question during the briefing.

Bush "attended" the briefing via teleconference while on vacation at Crawford, TX.

The video actually makes Brownie look good (from the NYT):

  • ''My gut tells me ... this is a bad one and a big one,'' then-federal disaster chief Michael Brown told the final government-wide briefing the day before Katrina struck the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29.

  • "I'm concerned about ... their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe,'' Brown told his bosses the afternoon before Katrina made landfall.

  • "The Superdome is about 12 feet below sea level.... I don't know whether the roof is designed to stand, withstand a Category Five hurricane,'' he said.

  • "Not to be (missing) kind of gross here,'' Brown interjected, ''but I'm concerned'' about the medical and mortuary resources ''and their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe.''

  • Now here's what you need to do:

    1. Go to ColorOfChange.org and join their campaign to call on Congress to censure the President for misleading the American people.

    2. Pass this information along to everyone you know and urge them to join us in this effort.

Sorry, no jokes in this post. It's all too sickeningly real:

is that like, "what is , is?"
f'ing crap! thank god dean stuck to his guns and said for people to just go on the website and view the tapes and make up their own minds! best thing he could have said. the tapes don't lie, but the white house did.

Good lord. Are they really saying that?

    They have no shame.

You may want to set the record straight here.

    (1) Bush called the Governor of Louisiana TWICE to warn her, and to ask if she needed federal help, as to which she declined.

    (2) Ray Nagin did nothing. He left a load of busses in the drink.

That being said, it's Bush's fault how?

The Democrats responsible for accepting any federal help until the last minute (which was then too late) are the people to blame here, not Bush. You just want to blame him because of your sour, biased, twisted politics you all partake in. Hey, I don't see any of you rebutting this:

    http://thepoliticalteen.com/video/blancolied.wmv

Again, just turn your deaf ears away from the truth and blame Bush, right? And to think, you guys are using the dead VICTIMS of Katrina for political purposes. Feh.

"Bush called the Governor of Louisiana TWICE to warn her, and to ask if she needed federal help, as to which she declined."

    Bullshit.

Blanco asked Bush for federal assistance on the 27th.

You can see her written request HERE.

“I have determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the State and affected local governments, and that supplementary Federal assistance is necessary to save lives, protect property, public health, and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a disaster.”

"I request Direct Federal assistance for work and services to save lives and protect property."

But go ahead and play YOUR politics and repeat the Bush/GOP lies.

I see her written request via link you provided. The date of her request is August 27, 2005. Katrina started August 24, 2005. Bush warned her, she declined, then requested help, by then it was too late. Read the facts:

    http://www.hurricane.com/hurricane-season/hurricane-KATRINA-2005-1331.html

    Advisory Start Date:2005/8/24/00Z
    Advisory End Date:2005/8/31/09Z

Again, who's to blame here? Not Bush.

Go on Maria. Keep turning your head. Nice try, however.

And keep ignoring the TWO BIG WHOPPING LIES:

    1. Bush claiming that no one could have anticipated the problem with the levees.

    2. Your claim that Blanco didn't request help from Bush.

Now go ahead and spin off again in another direction like you always do.

i've heard people call talk radio and blame people for staying there because"they wanted to loot their neighbor's homes"
i've heard jackasses call and say that people refused to live in the trailers (that are sittting empty due to fema stupidity!)because the trailers weren't "good enough for them"
i've heard o'rielly actually ask a caller that lost everything and was stuck in new orleans with his wife(he is a student) "why didn't you just wire your parents for money to leave?" i almost choked at that one. the man(a grad student) said his parents lived in the northwest, and just how was he supposed to get money wired to go!!!??? and yes, i saw the "topped/breached" comment in the howard dean interview on cable! god, no shame, just spin!
oh, and if i hear about the victims not having flood insurance so it's their fault, just 1 more damn time i'll scream!

god, cheney spoke yesterday i think it was, saying that too many americans are living paycheck to paycheck and they really should just save more! yeah and buy flood insurance i guess, and mine subsidence and heath insurance and stocks and bonds , oh and don't forget to send a few bucks the republican's way and the faith based groups and...! just my rant, sorry.

    Maria,

You can read, can't you? I just provided the proof as to the lies you're propagating. Hey, if you can't take the time to click on the (2) links I provided for you, then well...hey...that's your problem. Ignore what's being said to you, like all liberals do.

The question is, who cares about any of this except people looking to make political hay out of a natural disaster. "Bush lied. He said no one could have anticipated the levee breaches." Would it have mattered if he said "We anticipate the breach of the levees"? The Goddamn city floods everytime there's a decent rainfall. New Orleans was going to be under water, everybody knew that, and everyone was ordered out --this was done regardless of anyone's "worst case secenario" predictions, so what is the point of all of this verbal masturbation? Political opportunism. Katrina was, in insurance parlance, an Act of God and no amount of preparation could have spared the city or its levees. And as for the people, they were told to leave or stay at their own peril. Those who didn't were fucked. But blaming Bush, FEMA, and every other bureaucrat for a Hurricane is a new low in political opportunism. Here is a question that no one seems to want to ask: Why weren't the levees re-built, repaired, and re-engineered 30 years ago after the last big one overwhelmed the city? Get real. Now. All of you jackasses.

    Dear Anonymous,

Perhaps you are too much of a jackass to understand that we all get that Katrina was an "Act of God." It is the response (or lack thereof) to the threat of Katrina, the response (or lack thereof) to the aftermath of Katrina, and the lies that were told about the response (or lack thereof) that is being questioned.

I don't pay taxes directly in LA, I do pay taxes to the Federal Government. I can't vote in LA, I do vote for people in the Federal Government. I therefore feel just fine pointing out the cronyism, corruption and incompetence in the Federal Government.

    Anon --

What Maria is trying to say is:

"It's Bush's fault, no matter what, who, what, and when."

You're beating a dead horse. Liberals don't listen, never have, never will. The truth to a liberal is the enemy.

Oh, Maria, thank you so much for reminding me that the federal government can, if not for cronyism, incompetence, and poor planning, save me from everything. Damn Bush and Brown and whomever else. If they had only said "I think the levees will breach," none of this would have happened. You missed my point ---no amount of trucks, trailers, sandbags, warnings, yelling, screaming, evacuation orders, hoping, wishing, or praying was going to stop precisely what happened. EVERYONE, most of all those living in New Orleans, knew what was at stake. Apologies to those of you eating magical pixie dust who were hoping for a perfectly behaved natural disaster. it's too bad it wasn't --New Orleans would still be the magical land of enchantment, culture, and chicks showing me their racks for a crappy set of 50 cent beads. Yeh, I think I'll go for a spin on my magic carpet over to your world, the land of sugar plum trees and chocolate houses. Sober up before you post.

    Damn! I've seen the light!

I understand now that both Anon. and Braden are calling for the immediate termination of FEMA and the Homeland Security Agency because the Feds have no business responding to devastating multi-state disasters.

It just stands to reason if a major US city is flooded, those first responders in the flooded city are on their own ... you know ... fuck 'em.

    Thanks for the explanation!

...this would have the added benefit of not giving Bush one more thing to LIE about because BUSH IS A GODDAMN LYING BASTARD who will lie at every opportunity.

You are so driven by your hatred for the Bush administration that you don't even realize the stupidity you're spewing out. Basically, you'd argue with Bush if he said cat turds smelled good. You'd be like, "Now, wait just a minute, not EVERYONE thinks they do!!" LOL! "Gawd" you're so stupid.
