Well, this is interesting

Take a look at how The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review views the Delay resignation. I'll set all the weasel words to bold for your viewing pleasure. Here's the beginning:
DeLay bows out: A selfless move

Cynics will argue that Tom DeLay, under indictment in a trumped-up Texas election law "scandal," decided to leave Congress because a former top aide pleaded guilty to ancillary lobbying scandal charges and now is a cooperating witness.
So in the view of DickieCougarMellonScaife's rag, one would have to be a cynic to believe that Delay resigned because of the scandal itself Please notice the irony-setting apostrophes surrounding the word - are we to believe it's not a scandal?. And if it's not a scandal, what's "trumped-up" about it?
But he could not overcome the fallout from the taint of perceived scandal. Though he thought he could win a 12th House term in a tough re-election battle, his poll numbers were iffy; there was just enough possibility of a loss that he decided to pull in the lightning rod and place the party above himself.
Again, "percieved" scandal? And notice the distancing. It's not "the scandal." It's not even "the percieved scandal." No no no. It's the "taint of the percieved scandal."

And notice how they point out how selflessly The Hammer "place[d] the party above himself." That's Tom Delay, alright.

I wonder if anyone on the editorial board has even bothered to read the news.

And of course I guess we don't really have to point this out (but it's fun anyway) this is a Republican Scandal. No weasel words, no apostrophes.
