(Not quite) Live Nudes!

From thedenverchannel.com:
Art Teacher Loses Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture
Children Were On School-Approved Field Trip

An award-winning Texas art teacher who was reprimanded after one of her fifth-grade students saw a nude sculpture during a trip to a museum has lost her job.

The school board in Frisco has voted not to renew Sydney McGee's contract after 28 years. She has been on administrative leave.

[snip]

The Fisher Elementary School art teacher came under fire last April when she took 89 fifth-graders on a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art. Parents raised concerns over the field trip after their children reported seeing a nude sculpture at the art museum.

The parents had signed permission slips allowing their children to take part in the field trip.

McGee's lawyer said the principal at Fisher Elementary School admonished her after a parent complained that a student had seen nude art.
Q. What kind of people don't know that a major museum in a major US city would in all likelihood contain a nude or two?
A. People in Texas.

Q. What kind of people want to get an art teacher fired for "exposing" their children to the kind of nude art you'd see in the Dallas Museum of Art?
A. People in Texas.

Q. What kind of people would fire a teacher for this "offense" after the school had approved the field trip?
A. People in Texas.

Q. What should be done about this now?
A. There's only one remedy: kick Texas out of the US.

Assholes.

FYI: Here are some of the nudes that these obviously traumatized-for-life little Texas kiddies could have been exposed to at the Dallas Museum of Art:

xfiI wonder, is it politically correct to fire a teacher for doing her job? I mean we can't do or say anything to anyone that might hurt their feelings or cause undue stress and trama right? We can't fail kids in school because it might damage their self esteem...aren't they hurting this poor teachers feelings? Aren't they damaging her self esteem? If those parents were truely good parents they should have gone to the museum themselves FIRST to make sure there would be nothing there to injure their childs poor psyche, they should have even driven the EXACT route the bus would take to be sure there would be no problems along the bus route. Only then, after verifing everything their child might see should they have signed the permission slips. Come to think of it, that might not be enough either. If too much time passed between their visit and their childs field trip something might have changed. Perhaps they should just put their kids into a sensory deprivation capsule and keep them their. That way they would never see anything, or hear anything that could ever hurt them.
Maybe we should all just climb into one...

This whole planet is going to hell in a handbasket!

Or let Lil Ricky Santorum adopt them and homeschool them...oh, right, that is the same thing.

Don't mess with Texas.

The story is a wacko one, for sure. But Texas is more like five different nations. To paint with a broad brush, when it comes to Texas, is impossible --- unless you choose and desire to be 'bliss.'
