Democracy Has Prevailed.

I missed Olbermann Last Night

And his Special Commentary.

Some highlights. Along with scorching the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with his usual brilliance, Keith Olbermann now turns his sights on the failures (as he sees them) of the Democratic Congress:
You, the men and women elected with the simplest of directions—Stop The War—have traded your strength, your bargaining position, and the uniform support of those who elected you… for a handful of magic beans.
He'd just finished saying:

The Democratic leadership has surrendered to a president—if not the worst president, then easily the most selfish, in our history—who happily blackmails his own people, and uses his own military personnel as hostages to his asinine demand, that the Democrats “give the troops their money”;

The Democratic leadership has agreed to finance the deaths of Americans in a war that has only reduced the security of Americans;

The Democratic leadership has given Mr. Bush all that he wanted, with the only caveat being, not merely meaningless symbolism about benchmarks for the Iraqi government, but optional meaningless symbolism about benchmarks for the Iraqi government.

The Democratic leadership has, in sum, claimed a compromise with the Administration, in which the only things truly compromised, are the trust of the voters, the ethics of the Democrats, and the lives of our brave, and doomed, friends, and family, in Iraq.

He ends by saying that the entire government has failed us. The case for Bush's failures are obvuious. For the Democratic party, they have failed us because they have failed to stop dubya's war.

The newly elected Dems came in on an anti-war tide. The rest of them voted overwhelmingly for the war, and that's their problem.

They believe in it. They can't vote against it, because it is dear to their little hearts.

Expecting anything else is pointless.

The Democrat Party in Congress is showing its true colors. Their crass, cynical political calculation is that keeping the war going through next year, they lock in and expand their congressional majority and insure a victory for Hillary.

As if we wouldn't notice.

Then they wonder why people vote against their Caseys and in favor of true leaders and changers like Nader.

A pox on ALL their houses.

I think the Dems are being careful not to create some sort of backlash that will come back to haunt them in '08. The lumpenstupids of this nation sit waiting for a reason to support The War and The War on Terror. Give 'em one terrorist event of any magnitude here in the Fatherland...and they'll go running back to Dubya and his ilk.

It's easy to scald the Democrats for being wussy; I thnk they are just being smart and hoping to sweep the rest of the GOP out in the next election. THEN they can really take back our country!

I really could not care less whether the person beating my kid carries a (D) or an (R) in front of his name, nor whether he thinks he is being smart while hitting my kid's head with a two-by-four. I simply want him to stop beating my kid.

Backlash, schmacklash. These people got elected by promising to end the war. Instead, they voted to finance the killing of another thousand GIs and (they think) to get re-elected.

In the 2008 election, I will vote as follows:

President: Schmuck Shitrock
Congressman: Schmuck Shitrock

There's nobody else who cares about me, my family, my freedoms, or my country, so I'm voting for someone who does.
