So Many Lies...

I've been having a bit of difficulty choosing which clip of AG Alberto Gonzales to use. Should it be this one that shows him refusing to answer Senator Shumer's questions?

Or this one where he's either lying OR admitting that there is more than one intelligence gathering system (other than the one that's already known about)?

To remind everyone, it was this news item from December 2005 about how the NSA was instructed to conduct warrantless surveillance on US Citizens that compelled us (if my memory serves me correctly) to post that big word IMPEACH above the 2PJ banner.

Now either AG Gonzales is actively lying to a Congressional Committee OR there are more surveillance programs that the Bush administration hasn't told us about.

Impeach. Impeach. Impeach.

Best to start with Gonzales

2PJ's

Can you all please do a post on the Fuel efficiency bill in congress?

Its the first real Global warming legislation and the first CAFE Standards improvement since the 1970's.

And Guess who is voting the wrong way. That's right Congressman Doyle. The man is in desperate need of some grassroots lobbying.

No reason anyone should be voting against this, especially a democrat

The Good Bill is called Markey-Platts.

I actually found that second clip to be remarkably supportive of the Attorney General. Schumer was, in my opinion, pushing the facts beyond their natural elasticity. The AG made a mis-statement at a press conference, but (a) he admits that this was a mistake, (b) that statement was corrected by contacting the reporter directly, and (c) the AG certainly was not under oath during the press conference in question.

I with the guy was gone, too. I wish he would just resign already, since the writings on the wall here. But your argument would have been better supported by using clips of Specter, and not the clown-like questioning of Chuch Schumer.

Admiral, Mr. Gonzo was "unable" to say what was clarified or how it was clarified. His answer was exactly the kind of obvious, embarrassing attempt to mislead that we have come to know and love from our good Atty Genl.

And are you making the extraordinary claim that it's acceptable for the country's chief law enforcement officer to lie at a press conference as long as he is not under oath? Hmmm. Now that you mention it, I guess that concept would justify Bush's lies in pressers and State of the Union messages, wouldn't it?

Do you really think the American people care about this? I'll lay odds if you ask 1,000 people who Alberto Gonzalez is 75% wouldn't know.20% of those would guess he won the last American Idol show.People don't care anymore as long as it doesn't directly affect them they figure so what.

If the AP reports I just read are correct, it seems to me Congress now has in hand documents that directly contradict Gonzales testimony.

If that's the case, he perjured himself before Congress.

Obviously, Republicans will cry, "Clinton!"

With contempt charges going before the full House for Meiers and Bolten, Democrats seem ready to play tough and Gonzales might face impeachment soon enough.

We can only hope.

Impeach, yah right. C. Sheehan got arrested on Monday after Rep. Conyers stated she was distrubing the peace as she demanded he impeach someone. He stated they did not have the votes.
So go ahead and impeach already. You lefties cannot win an honest election so impeach.

Actually, we lefties won a bunch of honest elections back in November.

As for presidential elections, we'll let you know whether we can win an "honest" one or not if we ever have one. The last two were not.

And, of course, we're talking about the Attorney General who is not an elected official...so...
