Chelsea Afternoon (+ Bill + Volunteer Opportunities)

Chelsea Clinton visited Carnegie Mellon University yesterday, but first she stopped by her Mom's Pittsburgh campaign headquarters. Actor Sean Astin introduced her and spoke movingly about how happy his Mom (Patty Duke) was when she found out her son was volunteering for Hillary Clinton. (Duke is an advocate for mental health causes -- she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1982.)

Here's some pictures from the event (click on pictures for larger versions):

First came the rooms of phonebanking at Hillary Clinton's
Pittsburgh headquarters and signing up to GOTV next week:

And, hanging out with "Rudy"/"Samwise Gamgee"/Sean Astin.
Then, folks tried to cram into a room...

...to hear the guest of honor: Chelsea Clinton

Afterwards, they lined up to talk to her:

Chelsea takes one for the blog:

I could get used to that:

John K. says: Well there you go. What more of an endorsement do I need than those two. Chelsea, who never had to wonder what money was or ask for a job, and Samwise Gamgee. We are going to keep Hillary in this race till sept. Then we are going to have fun watching those two bash each other in Denver.

She was extremely nice and stayed for a long time to talk one to one to anyone who asked. (Yes, yes, not the press.)

Hello. My name is Chelsea Clinton. I used to work for McKinsey & Company and now I work for prominent hedge fund firm. Despite all of my success professionally, mommy and daddy still won't let me answer questions from the press corps.

blog administrator? Too bad you deleted my comments, but it proves to me that the "Family Clinton" can be Game for any degradation, but Obama's cannot.
Any put-down against Hilliary will endure, but God forbid, we should show a Black family in any negative light!

For the record, I -- a Clinton supporter -- deleted that comment against Michelle Obama as I found it extremely offensive. Hillary does not need (or want) that kind of "help."

Maria,
My comment was meant to be offensive, not to you or Michelle Obama. I wanted to demonstrate just how low you can go in attacking a candidate. Obama supporters act like they are all so above the herd and then they keeping slapping and hitting Hilliary's kid around. Nothing is lower than that. But I'm glad you took it down because they would have missed the point too. Isn't it funny how people can see the cruelity in others, but never recognize it in themselves?
