Happy Birthday John McCain!

Today is Senator John McCain's birthday. He was born today in seventy-two years ago (in 1936) on a Naval Air Base in the American-controlled Panama Canal Zone.

Happy Birthday, John McCain!

You know what else happened on August 29?

  • Lenny Henry, the great British comedian was born on this day in 1958
  • In 1833, the UK abolished slavery in its empire
  • The Beatles perform their last (paying) concert in San Francisco in 1966

Oh, yea - I forgot one. This is the day that Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. While John McCain and his best bud George Bush were photo opping with that cake above, the Bush administration through sheer incompentance, was letting a great American city drown. More than 1,800 died. Billions of dollars in damage.

Happy Birthday John McCain!

John K: Of course, Bush with his hurricane machine caused that disaster. And we all know why, in the words of Kanye West, when referring to New Orleans, he did it because, "Bush hates black people and wants to kill them." Kanye West performed at the DNC convention. LOL LOL LMAO This is fun, post more like this.

John K: Sen. McCain son of an Admiral, grandson of an Admiral, and graduate of the Naval Academy. Thanks for reminding everyone of his birthday!

If I remember correctly the flooding was not apparent until the 3rd day.
I guess Bush had to take care of New Orleans since Mayor Nagan and the New Orleans were too busy confiscating people's guns to bother with helping the flood victims.
I also disagree that New Orleans is a great city.
It is like Detroit. A democratic machine controlled high tax hellhole.

and he rode on his family's coattails just like george bush!

John K: You bet Sen. McCain got into the academy thru this father and grandfather. It is a privilege granted to the offspring of those military people as well as the offspring of Medal of Honor winners. The Academy knows a good blood line when they see it. Don't be so jealous Sherry. I am sure there are some non credit courses you can take at the Community College. Nothing too challenging though. LMAO Can I dish it out or what?

Sherry Pasquarello said...

good blood line. gee, thought the german's lost WWII!

cathcatz said...

john, can you EVER get a quote right??

it's not: "Bush hates black people and wants to kill them."

it's "George Bush doesn't care about black people."

get your shit right, because we will keep you in check when you exaggerate.

John K. said...

John K: Cathcatz, nope got the quote right. It was changed by NBC who cut the mic right after he said it. Not good for business. Either the way I say he said it, or the way you said he said it, think for a minute, you endorse this guy. LOL LOL LOL

John K. said...

John K: Sherry, I said good blood lines. What do Germans have to do with anything? They do have noncredit courses at the community college you can take to make sure you get some facts right. You can't be expected to get all, but at least get some.

John K. said...

John K: McCain - Palin! In one stroke McCain wiped out any bounce Hussein Obama got. And he didn't even have to stage a rock concert to do it.

Sherry Pasquarello said...

if you did not get my meaning then it is you that need a refesher course in history.

plus you've insulted a whole lot of people that attend a community college and those who teach there.

you really have few people skills.

cathcatz said...

john, i watched it live that night, sitting at home with a sick child, disgusted by what was happening in NOLA.

i know exactly what he said, and what he did not say. i specifically remember the pointed pause after that statement.

he's right. bush does not care about black people, and to elaborate, he doesn't care about poor people, either. he cares about his base, his money.

John K. said...

John K: Like I said cathcatz...all a person has to say to get in your good graces is to say they hate Bush. You must have missed the Jimmy Carter statement referring to Hussein Obama as a "little black boy." But then like West, Carter hates Bush so we let it pass. I know what I heard. I heard it when he said it.

John K. said...

John K: Sherry, McCain's grandfather was Commander of Naval Air in the Battle of the Solomons. And his father was CIC Pac. So your reference to Germans comes from where? Take some course at the Comm College. Non credit ones so you can't be judged. LMAO

The flooding wasn't apparent until the third day? They knew the levees weren't going to hold.

And in one stroke McCain just undermined his entire argument against Obama's experience by someone who has been a) a mayor of a town of 6,000 and b) has served has governor. She has NO foreign policy experience.

She's also connected to Alaska's corrupt Republican party and the likes of corruprt politicians like Ted Stevens(soon to be the former senator from Alaska) and Don Young(soon to be a former congressman from Alaska).

She's a rightwing ideologue, so there's little hope of attracting those Clinton voters McCain is so desperate to get.

Her husband's connected to big oil; not the kind of connection you want these days.

And she apparently doesn't even know what the VP does, saying recently, "“[A]s for that V.P. talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?"

Palin is also embroiled in a scandal in which she used her office to push the State Police to fire her brother-in-law, who is a trooper and currently involved in a nasty child custody fight with Palin's sister.

Good move, John McCain.

Sherry Pasquarello said...

"blood lines" john, blood lines/genetics, get it??

probably not it's too ingrained in you.

And get this, dear, dear wingers...

Palin SUPPORTED a windfall profits tax on big oil in Alaska...and guess what? The Seattle Times reports it generated "stunning new wealth" for the people of Alaska.

John K: This Palin nomination poses a quandry for the left. Mother of 5, one of which is special needs. Has a son headed for Iraq McCain has a son serving as an enlistedman in the Marines. Was a union member and a teacher. It will be fun watching the left bash her. LOL McCain sucked all the oxygen from the Hussein Obama speech in one move. And he didn't need a rock band to do it. Old age and experience wins out every time. LOL

John K. said...

John K: Sherry--I did get it. But I waited till you put your foot in your mouth before I closed. McCain is Scots-Irish. No German blood. LMAO LMAO LMAO LOL I am soooo good at this.

Sherry Pasquarello said...

you are a fool. bloodline/genetics,

as in bloodlines and breeding amnd good stock and the breeding programs in germany during the war.

bloodlines, super race.

we don't go by bloodlines in america john.

tho people like mccain and g.bush got by because of family connections!

Joe Biden has a son heading to Iraq too, John K.

It will be great watching the right rally behind someone with NO experience, someone who belonged to a union(did you guys forget you hate those?) and who is intractably intertwined in Alaska's corrupt Republican Party.

And, you know, it's too bad that John McCain didn't live up to the reputation of his father and grandfather, as both a student at the Naval Academy(he was one of the worst) and as a pilot(crashed at least 5 planes).

It's hard too imagine either one of those men, who served with such distinction, manipulating their service to this country for political gain as their descendent has.

I imagine that if McCain's grandfather or father were asked to define what "honor" meant, they wouldn't refuse to answer.

If they were asked a tough question, such as, "How many homes do you own?" I doubt they'd say, "I don't have to answer that; I was an admiral" as John has in using his time as a POW as an excuse to deflect all criticism.

But to see just how good things are going for Republicans, let's look at some of the things in McCain and Palin's speeches today.

Lots of talk about change; so much for experience. It's kind of unbelievable listening to Republicans talk about the need to reform what Republicans have done to the country these last 8 years.

You're using Hillary Clinton in your arguments. That doesn't mean much coming from a group that everyone knows hates Hillary Clinton, which is why it's all the more surprising to hear them use her or any Democrat in attacking Obama.

As Pat Buchanan said, Obama's convention speech was the greatest convention speech he's ever heard - Obama's speech sent the wingers into a fit; they don't know how to respond.

It's a shame that a young woman like Palin, who does seem to have been willing to go against her party, has decided to hitch her wagon to the failed policies of Bush/McCain. Today she wholeheartedly severed her career as a "reformer" and embraced the failures of the Republican party.

Good luck arguing from here on, wingers, that Obama isn't ready to be president. If Palin is ready to step in for the aging McCain, I guess McCain shouldn't be taken too seriously on the whole experience issue.

you're as bad as the idiots who've posted comments on the youtube sight hosting the video.

Let me also extend a Happy Birthday to Crash McCain, who is the oldest person to ever run for President(Reagan '84 doesn't count because he was running for re-election - but who all know how much he wasn't "there" in the 2nd term).

Frankly, if we were to have a 72 year old President, I'd like a VP who's done a little more than serve as mayor of a small town and only completed 1 1/2 years of their first term as governor.

It's a shame that John McCain chose to use an exceptional woman as a political gimmick.

We didn't hear why Sarah Palin was ready to become President if needed. We didn't hear her views on foreign policy. We didn't hear her views on domestic policy. We didn't hear much at all.

Knowing McCain's past, it probably mattered more to him that she is a former beauty queen.

Palin has more executive experience than John McCain...ha!

It's nice the Republican Party finally caught up to the 20th century...too bad that the party doesn't support equal pay, doesn't support funding education, doesn't support women's rights, doesn't support fixing health care...

The Republicans may have nominated a woman to serve as VP, but they can't gloss over their consistent failure to address the concerns of women.

And the networks are already talking about Palin's Trooper-gate scandal - good move, McCain!

fooking librul media!

of course they are already talking about trooper-gate.

they hate amerikka!!!

What conservatives are saying about Palin:

(h/t cityduck @ DK)

Kathryn Jean Lopez(National Review) and Pat Buchanan:

"She Just Is Not Ready to Be Commander-in-Chief" [said] Pat Buchanan on MSNBC just now, about Sarah Palin. I'm liable to agree."

Ramesh Ponnuru(National Review):

"As a political matter, it undercuts the case against Obama...And it’s not just foreign policy. Palin has no experience dealing with national domestic issues, either...Can anyone say with a straight face that Palin would have gotten picked if she were a man?"

Jonah Goldberg(National Review):

"She may not be ready for primetime. The heartbeat-from-the-presidency issue is a real one."

Joe Scarborough(MSNBC):

"It Sounds Like a Harriet Miers Decision. Let's Find a Woman, Whether She's Experienced or Not."

Ron Fournier(Town Hall):

"She is younger and less experienced than the first-term Illinois senator, and brings an ethical shadow to the ticket."

Actually, I will say that the Wikipedia paints her as a reformer. She apparently truly wants to serve her constituency. She has refused earmarks and has publicly asked Ted Stevens to reveal the truth about the charges against him. I think the voters of Alaska like her, although part of that may be due to high oil prices.

I think McCain might be using her to renew his "maverick" image. But I think she would be miserable in DC. I believe there are some true fiscal conservatives among the Republicans. But the trickledown theory leading Republicans to help the very rich mostly means the reformers are on the Democratic side. So she would be alone in her twin fights for fiscal responsibility and conservative social policy.

As for whether she helps the ticket, a lot depends on John McCain. Her record is like a conservative reflection of Barack Obama's. If McCain tries to take a high road and run as a fiscal reformer, he might gain some traction. But I suspect Obama might have the edge in policy proposals. And if McCain stays negative, he loses whatever integrity she might bring.

John K: Look at you liberals. Acting all bitchy. LMAO LMAO Do I detect jealousy here? LOL Hussein Obama passed over Hillary, the queen bee, and now the women are getting catty. LMAO

Anonymous said...

Jealousy?

Hardly, John K.

We LOVE this pick. It says a lot about how seriously John McCain takes the presidency and this election that he would pick a candidate simply on the basis of indentity politics, a person he has only met once before.

Frankly, John, you winger clowns just made McCain's age even more of an issue - for a 72 year old man with a history of health problems to select someone whose experience pales in comparison to the career of Obama to be just a heartbeat away from the presidency is frightening. And I think that's how most voters will view it.

Hey John K...women really love it when you words like "bitchy."

For fuck's sake, you wingers are so bloody clueless...
