The Party of Family Values

And its Chairman:
Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.
So that would be:

  • Two women wanting to celebrate their love and monogamy with marriage = BAD

  • Watching two topless women imitating lesbian sex = GOOD enough to warrant reimbursement for their Party's Chairman
    .

I saw the story elsewhwere and came here in hopes of one of Maria's famous digital art pieces...

This story could only be more perfect if Steele's a Roman Catholic.

The RNC is now claiming it was only a lowly staffer whom they reimbursed. God knows what the interns get...

Dana Milbank of WaPo has the story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/29/AR2010032902978.html?hpid=topnews
Apparently a direct mail executive named Erik Brown, who is described as a "non-committee staffer", was the person who spent the $1,946.25 (twenty five cents?) at Voyeur West Hollywood, according to the RNC. I guess it was filed under Steele's name, but we were supposed to know that Steele would never go to such a place. Or we weren't supposed to look at the filing in the first place (what were the reporters thinking?). I assume the RNC has canceled the credit card they gave Mr Brown. I would have thought they would have started distancing themselves from Mr. Brown when they filed the expenses with the FEC. Maybe they thought, hey, if the Pope can get away with condoning child abuse, we ought to be able to skate on lesbian B&D.
