"Prancing in the streets" Really, Mika?

So I turn on MSNBC's Morning Joe at 7:00 AM, because I'm an idiot, and co-host Mika Brzezinski -- speaking about the overturn of Proposition 8 -- announces that people were "prancing in the streets" in California yesterday.

The whole zoo crew laughs with her and act like it was some naughty anti-PC joke (or postmodern attempt at irony?).

I believe it was Joe Scarborough who said something about "going deeper into a hole" so perhaps Mika was riffing on something said in the 6:00 - 7:00 hour, but I find it hard to understand how anything previously said on the show could justify her use of the word "prancing" in conjunction with gays celebrating a ruling regarding their due process and equal protection rights.

Thanks for adding a layer of ugly to a civil rights victory, Morning Joe zoo crew!

UGH!

My paternal grandmother's name was Brzezinski, so I find this particularly offensive....

But Barney Frank said it best, when he suggested that, (paraphrasing now) "This generation has no problem with the issue -- so it's just a matter of time."

Amen to that.

I still laughed when Stephen Colbert was sashaying behind Barney Frank in that "Better Know a Congressman" segment. Yes, it was offensive, but it was also really, really funny (maybe a little more funny because it gave Frank a reputation as having zero sense of humor, something he has since tried to disprove).

But "prancing" was a very unfortunate choice of words for Mika.

Can I tell a Polish joke I heard from Bob Newhart now?

I have to say I've enjoyed the open banter on Morning Joe. But it's like hanging with the cool kids in High School when you know in your hear that you're, you know - that way. And didn't Mika just bring the whole experience full circle when she turned her mean girl/head cheerleader derision on those silly gay boys and girls in West Hollywood?

Suffice it to say I won't be tuning in anymore. I am done with high school again. A word to the wise, though, Mika - if you're thinking of waving your hands in the air like you just don't care, you might want to consider working on those tired old triceps.
