Karen and Rick Santorum were interviewed recently on CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) and Karen wants you to know that God wants Lil Ricky to run (natch) and that running for president is not like being on a battlefield, it's literally a battlefield.
Karen Santorum:
"For me it’s not just another political race. It’s about going on to the battlefield and defending God’s truth in the World. Defending the sacredness of marriage. Defending the sanctity of life. So I see it a little differently because I know it's going to be literally on a battlefield, and it's going to be really hard. So there is a lot of reservation. But it really boils down to God's will. What is it that God wants? ...And believe with all our hearts that this is what God wants."(h/t to Gyma @ A Spork in the Drawer)

Do you think there is any chance that Rick and Karen see the parallel between their "worldview" (God wants us to do it) and that of al Qaeda? (God wants us to do it...) No, I don't think so either....
Their "battlefield" language is an attempt, on every level, to make themselves appear heroic, which isn't exactly what Jesus was all about, if I read the related literature (you know, The Bible) correctly. JC wasn't a fan of self-aggrandizing politicians and their holier-than-thou wives.
And for them to act as if this is going to be "difficult?" Exactly how, Karen? You going to have to fly Coach? More OT for the au pair? Rick, as far as I can tell, has never done anything like "hard work" in his life. He has the flaccid body and soft hands to prove it.
Of course, equally soft is his logic.
When we learned that God wanted Mr. and Mrs. Santorum to stick the struggling taxpayers of Penn Hills with a huge bill for the online education of children residing in a million-dollar home in Leesburg, Virginia, we stopped caring about what God wanted the Santorums to do.
