You all know that Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano has been subpoenaed by the January 6 Committee, right?
As of this writing, Mastriano hasn't even issued a statement about the subpoena.
In any event, the committee issued another round of subpoenas yesterday.
And on that list was the name Kurt Olsen.
And this is what The Committee is asking Kurt:
The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed credible evidence that you publicly promoted claims that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent and participated in attempts to disrupt or delay the certification of the results. For example, just days before the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, you contacted various high-level officials at the Department of Justice at the former President’s “direct[ion]” to discuss filing a last-minute challenge to the election based on a similar case that the Supreme Court had already rejected. In addition, you reportedly prepared a draft executive order for former President Trump that would have directed the U.S. Department of Justice “to take voter action,”2 and, according to materials on file with the Select Committee, you had multiple telephone calls with former President Trump on January 6, 2021.
Where have we seen the name Kurt Olsen before?
Here - June 16, 2021.
The Committee referred to Olsen contacting various "high-level officials at the Department of Justice" regarding a challenge to the 2020 election based on fraudulent claims of voting irregularity.
Previously, The Committee released 200 or so pages of emails and in that large stack of emails, there's a back and forth between Olsen and ODAG John Moran.
This is where Doug's name comes up.
First there's this (p 151):
Then there's this (p 152):
What follows in the email chain is a copy of Sen. Mastriano's more or less fact-free letter to Acting Attorney General Donogue.
Look at the text from The Committee. It says that Olsen said he was at the direction of then-President Trump. Now look at Olsen's email to Moran. Olsen name drops Trump adding, "he directed me last night to brief AG Rosen in person" about the action.
Pretty good chance that Olsen's letter to Moran passing along Mastriano's letter is, at the very least, part of what The Committee wants to discuss with Kurt Olsen.
Shouldn't this concern Doug Mastriano? That a congressional committee is sniffing into his participation in what looks like a coup attempt?
So exactly how deeply entwined is Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano in Donald Trump's plans?
And when will Doug even utter the word "subpoena" in public?
