DePasquale Campaign Update

If you recall, back in early October, we blogged about a native son running on the other side of the state: Eugene DePasquale (grandson of former City Council President Eugene "Jeep" DePasquale). He's the Democratic candidate running for the State House from York, PA.

It looks like the Post-Gazette has found some interest in the his election as they have an article in today's paper on DePasquale:
First case of political name recognition being used in wrong part of state

Eugene 'Not Jeep' DePasquale runs for state House in a land where nobody knows his name

You can take the DePasquale out of Pittsburgh politics, but it appears you can't take politics out of the DePasquale.
The paper notes that DePasquale's race is part of a larger picture to take back Democratic control of the PA House. Republicans have held control since 1994.

So how's Eugene doing?

Just last week, he was endorsed by The York Daily Record -- a paper that has endorsed more Republican candidates for State House than Democrats this season. Here's what they had to say about DePasquale:
Based on experience and qualifications alone, Eugene DePasquale is the obvious choice for voters in the state House 95th District.

[snip]

Voters in the 95th District should send Eugene DePasquale to the state House. He'll be good for York — and good for efforts to reform a state Legislature that has lost touch with average citizens.
Good Luck, Eugene.
