Betting on Iowa

Anyone out there want to hazard a guess as to who will win in Iowa tonight?

If you believe you're a real political maven, you can actually bet some cold, hard cash on the answer at http://www.intrade.com/ .

So who do the markets predict will win in Iowa?

Here's the line on that:

DEM.IOWA.OBAMA
Barack Obama to Win
BID: 60.0 ASK: 64.9 LAST: 64.9 VOLUME: 3185 CHANGE: +8.9

REP.IOWA.HUCKABEE
Mike Huckabee to Win
BID: 54.5 ASK: 59.5 LAST: 53.2 VOL: 2246 CHANGE: -5.8
However, they're still betting that Hillary Clinton will take the nomination for the presidency on the Democratic side:
2008DEM.NOM.CLINTON
Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic Presidential Nominee in 2008
BID: 61.1 ASK: 64.5 LAST: 61.1 VOL.: 362815 CHANGE: -3.8
And for the Republican nomination?

It's a bit of dead heat between McCain and Giuliani:
2008.GOP.NOM.MCCAIN
John McCain to be the Republican Presidential Nominee in 2008
BID: 26.5 ASK: 27.5 LAST: 27.4 VOL.: 174149 CHANGE: +3.4

2008.GOP.NOM.GIULIANI
Rudy Giuliani to be the Republican Presidential Nominee in 2008
BID: 24.5 ASK: 25.0 LAST: 25.9 VOL.: 143834 CHANGE: -1.9
.

Edwards will win, Obama will get the second and Clinton will be third.

Clinton will be second after the first round, but the Biden/Kucinich/Dodd votes will go to Obama or Edwards. The real question will be the Richardson votes and if he makes 15%. He will more than likely dump to Hillary, but he may get enough votes to stay in the running.

For the GOP, Huckster will win, McCain will get the second tier votes to take second and Romney will be third.

John K. says: Well I know who will not win in Iowa, Sen. Clinton. How do I know this, because her shills have been out on the morning talk shows saying how Iowa is unimportant. So then the question to be asked is, If Iowa is unimportant to Hillary then why did she spend so much time and money to win. She even brought in Bubba. Looks like Hillary is not inevitable.

That National Journal has the same thing, but with fake money. I think that one is more reliable. It says roughly the same thing. It's here.

We need a Pittsburgh one, so we can all sell Jimmy Motznik "dahn the river."

Nice to see you here lately djhlights!

I wouldn't be surprised if Richardson did try to dump his votes to Hillary.

Richardson and Biden already decided to thrown their support to Obama.

Of course, they have appearances to maintain, so they're denying this. But they decided to throw their support to Obama for three reasons: one, they need Edwards out of the race to gain any traction so they can't throw their support to him. 2. They know that if Hillary wins the Iowa caucus that the nomination is hers, and there's no stopping her. 3. Down the road they both want to become the non-Clinton/Obama option.

Makes sense.

As a Richardson supporter regardless of what the campaign says his vote will break this way: 40 Edwards, 40 Obama, 20 Clinton. These are people that value experience that didn't buy Clinton's claim to it, and people who opposed the war. They're not likely to go to Clinton. Some of them will, but not a majority of them.

And keep in mind, in some areas Richardson will be viable and in others he won't. There are also areas where Clinton isn't viable (she pissed off the family farmers last week).

John K. says: Having predicted a Hillary Clinton loss in Iowa, I also predict a Hillary Clinton loss in NH. However, she will be the Democrat Nominee for President. How do I know this, past history. Bubba and Hillary will simply bump off any of their rivals and threaten their future economic well being prior to the Democrat convention. They have done this in the past and will do so again if needed. Am I the Man or what?

This is an extension of the Rush Limbaugh right-wing nut talking point about Clinton Inc.

Right after Obama got Secret Service protection, Limbaugh went on the radio and said something to the effect of, "I tell you who Obama should be worried about. He doesn't have to worry about conservatives. He needs to worry about Clinton Inc. Ask Vince Foster."

Stupid quote coming from a stupid guy. Not surprising John K, the resident troll, would buy it hook, line, and sinker.
