Rove on Palin

From our friends up north:

Canada's esteemed think-tank, the Fraser Institute, hosted a gala dinner last night featuring as keynote speaker Republican Karl Rove. He is considered the "brains" behind the Bush election victories. He was also Bush's key advisor. Last night, he did party spin but said something significant.A Toronto businessman asked him if he thought Sarah Palin would make a good President."I don't know," said Rove.

If Rove doesn't know, we should all be worried. Rove is not running the McCain show, but is inside enough to know so how can he not know? How about others in the party, do they not know too? Shouldn't they know before they work for her? Does John McCain know?

As Andrew Sullivan wrote, I know.

John K: Get real. Why didn't you post the fake photo of Rove being led away from the White House in cuffs. You want Rove indicted. Liberals are hypocrites.

John K: Not so fast on the polls there Homer. I see by looking at the front page of the Trib that these guys are in a dead heat. Normally the Democrat, even Dukakis was ahead by double digits at this point. You left wingers are going to have to better than this if you think you can steal this election. LMAO

the trib? LOL ROFLMAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL LOL LOL

uh, back to the topic... rove knows that she wouldn't make a good president. that is why she's in there in the first place. she can be controlled and directed by the real powers that be.

think i'm being paranoid?

John K. said...

John K: The phone rang at 3:00 AM on the financial crisis and Hussein Obama said not now I am busy running for President. LMAO

John K. said...

John K: So where is the shot of Rove being removed from the White House in cuffs. LMAO LMAO Like any liberal in here even listens to what Rove says. LOL

johnk,

McCain doesn't sit on the Senate Finance Committee. Nothing has come up for a vote before the full Senate, yet.

So, what exactly is it that Sen. McCain is needed to do, back in Washington, that requires him to suspend his campaign, and postpone both the first presidential debate, and the VP debate, too?

(Besides save himself from a whipping tomorrow night, of course. LOL! LOL!! LOL!!!)

John K. said...

John K: Well for one, work with the folks on the other side of the aisle to resolve these issues. Now McCain knows he is still being paid as a Senator. Hussein Obama thinks his Senate pay is only to be used for his run for the President. So in this crisis, we have one serving the country as he pledged, and the other too busy running for office to be bothered. LMAO Hello, Tell Hussein to serve in the Senate, where he collects his pay, and stop voting present. LOL

John K. said...

John K: Now bear in mind left wingers of short memory skills. (That is you Kimber) McCain challenged Hussein Obama to 10, count 'em 10, town hall style debates in front of the people without monitors. Hussein Obama declined. Gee, so just who ducked debates? LOL LOL LOL Without his teleprompter, Hussein Obama doesn't want to talk.

johnk,

You don't seem to realize that there isn't anything for McCain to work on, "across the aisle," or otherwise.

He doesn't sit on the Committees that are responsible for doing the work on the bailout.

Until a bill is reported out of committee, he can offer his opinions, but, he could do that over the phone. Even if he's back in his Senate office, he'll still only be offering his views over the phone. See, outside of the gallery, there wouldn't be a place for him to sit in on the hearings, etc,....BECAUSE HE's NOT ON THE COMMITTEES THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKING ON THE PROBLEM.

(The whole thing is just another stunt by the McCain Campaign, desperate as they are.)LOL! LOL!! LOL!!! LOL!!!!

Anonymous said...

Kimber just destroyed you, John K.

McCain doesn't sit on the committees that are hammering this deal out. He's irrelevant until it comes to the full Senate.

And he hasn't been there since April and has missed more votes than ANY senator over the last two years - so all of the sudden he needs to return?

Why didn't he return last week? Why did it take him a week to make this decision?

He can't put his VP in charge of the campaign and let her carry on? Isn't that what a VP is for?

He can't do more than one thing at a time?

And you keep bringing up these town halls - town halls that were ticket-only, meaning they were GOP crowds. What kind of debate is that? With no moderator? With no agreed to ground rules?

Sorry, but officially sanctioned Presidential Debates are a little more significant than McCain's staged town hall events(which he even stopped holding).

John K. said...

John K: Hussein Obama didn't say, "If you need me, call me." No he didn't say that? LOL LOL LOL Hillary was right about the 3:00 AM phone call. LMAO Call me. LOL LOL

John K. said...

John K: The facts. After the meeting with Paulson only 4 Republicans were on board. So Paulson called L. Graham to ask McCain to stop what he was doing, to come back to DC, and bring some Republicans on board. McCain did. Then Reid/Dodd went into a panic and met this AM and decided that they had to now do something to try to deflect any credit away from McCain. That happened at 1:45 PM. Just the threat of McCain showing up and reaching across the aisle was enough to get people moving. Only credibility destroyed is Kimber. LOL LOL LOL

John K. said...

John K: Now think I am wrong about this. Gallup daily tracking has them tied at 46% and Zogby has a 6 point shift with McCain up 2%. All over the fact that McCain acted like an American Senator. (Hussein Obama, "call me." LOL LOL) So do you think Dayvoe will post this poll, LMAO or Maddow will talk about it. LOL You left wingers are so funny. LOL LOL

John K: I own this blog!

Hmmm, John K responding to the question (paraphrased) why is McCain need in Washington: "Well for one, work with the folks on the other side of the aisle to resolve these issues."

John K a few comments later: "The facts. After the meeting with Paulson only 4 Republicans were on board. So Paulson called L. Graham to ask McCain to stop what he was doing, to come back to DC, and bring some Republicans on board. McCain did."

Actually, I'm not sure if Sidney McCain has reached Washington yet, he was giving a speech this morning, after telling Letterman he had to cancel their afternoon taping yesterday. He said that was because of the suspended campaign and because Sidney needed to get to Washington right away. Of course, he then gave an interview to Katie Couric, and stayed in New York to give the speech this morning.

And he can't debate tomorrow night, because the Congress will be working on the bailout on Friday night, because they can't work on Saturday or Sunday.

I'm just sayin' I don't understand. You say you own the blog, John K, explain why Sidney McCain told people he had to go to DC, then actually went there ... when?

The surge worked in a limited tactical sense, but virtually no political progress has been made in Iraq.

johnk,

Lemme see if I have this straight.....The Treasury Secretary wanted to get more R-Senators on board, since "only 4" were going to go along with the deal. Seeking John McCain's help, Paulson called....Sen. Graham?

But, then, thanks to his efforts, Sen. McCain managed to get more R's to go along, and the deal was reached.

Funny, but, looking at the video, and listening to the Senators talk, I see Sen. Bennett, and Sen. Roberts, and Sen. Dodd, and Sen. Schumer.

Don't see Lindsey Graham, let alone John McCain. Didn't hear their names mentioned, either.

I don't suppose that you have a source for your story, do you?

Anonymous said...

As of Tuesday, McCain hadn't even read Treasury's 3 page proposal...and yet this is so critical he has to pretend to suspend his campaign, pull out of the debate and go to Washington?

This is pure political Kabuki - it's a farce.

It's all being set-up so that McCain can pretend to ride in and save the day - even though he hasn't been a part of the negotiations, he doesn't sit on the relevant committees, he hasn't been in the Senate since April, he's missed more votes in the last 2 years than any other Senator and he's proposed ZERO banking bills compared to Obama's 5.

THIS IS A JOKE.

EdHeath said...

Actually, according to Yahoo and the obviously biased New York Times, a deal has been reached on the bailout. I guess Sidney McCain's condition for doing the debate, that a deal be reached, has been achieved.

John K. said...

John K: I stated the facts and the Democrats got so scared of McCain sweeping in and taking the credit they (Reid/Pelosi/Dodd) got off their butts and crafted the deal. Obama voted present. LOL LOL LMAO

John K. said...

John K: See I told you. You liberals never talk to real Americans. You only talk to other liberals. Read the Trib on a regular basis and you might find out what the gun and bible clinging real Americans really think. Cathcatz reads the Daily Kos along with the Daily Communist. LMAO at how narrow minded you left wing loons are. McCain is tied in Gallup at 46% and ahead in Zogby at 2%. McCain is a master at this.

EdHeath said...

From the Trib: "Republican McCain leads his Democratic opponent by 45 to 43 percent -- a statistical dead heat -- according to the Franklin & Marshall College Poll"

"A rolling average of polls compiled by RealClearPolitics showed Obama leading by 3.7 percentage points -- 47.8 percent to 44.1 percent.

A Fox News survey showed Obama leading by 6 points, and an ABC News/Washington Post poll showed the Democrat with a 9-point lead."

By the way, did Sidney McCain lie to David Letterman about going to Washington?

Anonymous said...

What "facts" did you state, johnk? If they are "facts," they should be able to be verified.

What was the source of your story about Paulson calling Graham?

If this wasn't just a political stunt, why would Graham be involved? If it was just to increase the number of Republicans "on board" with their own Administrations' proposal, where was the Senate Minority Whip, Mitch McConnell? (Actually, he was right there. He was in the picture. McCain didn't even arrive until the deal was done.)

So,...What was your source? (This was just one of Limbaugh's Oxy-jags again, wasn't it?)

Anonymous said...

Way to go, Senator Dumbfuck.

Didn't McCain say it was absolutely urgent to get a deal done?

So did he come back to Washington to screw it up? Was that his intention? Because that's what Senator Dipshit did.

Bravo, Senator Fucktard.

Could the man behave like a grown-up? Could he stop pretending he's president? Could he get over his HUGE fucking ego?

As for polls:

ABC/Washingont Post:

Obama 53, McCain 42

Research2000:

Obama 49, McCain 44

State polling all over the place shows Obama making gains in CO, PA, MI, VA, WI, FL, WV and NC.

And look...Obama can be in Washington and STILL run his campaign.

If John McCain can't walk and chew gum at the same time, he has no business in the fucking White House.

And after unnecessarily interjecting his dumb ass into these negotiations, he really has no business in the fucking Senate.

The man is a fucking joke.

Thank god Obama is acting like a leader, because we've seen anything but from Senator Jackass and President Doofus.

Did anyone know that McCain has missed 101 more roll call votes than Senator Tim Johnson, who missed his because he had a stroke?

John McCain is a fucking clown.

And what were the brilliant ideas McCain skuddled the deal with:

tax cuts for corporations and more deregulation

After telling us all week that we needed MORE regulation, McCain proposes less.

After telling us all week that the taxpayer shouldn't be left holding the bill for this, McCain proposes cutting the taxes of the very people responsible for this mess.

Un-fucking-believable.

From the Washington Post online:

" But for most of the afternoon, McCain has not visibly been part of the action on the issue. He was not present when House and Senate negotiators emerged from a two-hour meeting to declare success. That announcement was made by Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, Sen. Robert F. Bennett (Utah) and Frank.

McCain, by contrast, spent some time in his office with several Republican colleagues, briefly stopped at Boehner's office, then left for lunch at the Capitol's Mansfield Room before returning to his office in the Russell Senate Office Building."

So, johnk, you say that your story of Paulson calling Graham, to enlist McCain, was a "fact?"

LOL! LOL!! LOL!!! LOL!!!!

And now the agreement is broken again ...

New York Time is reporting that the "meeting" McCain called for turned into a complete partisan bickering fest - until that point, there was a DEAL. Corker and other Republicans in the Senate were on board.

But McCain is lining up with the insane House Republicans and their Hoover-esque plan.

From what I've read of the meeting, McCain and Bush were silent. McCain sat their for 40 minutes, saying nothing.

IT WAS OBAMA who tried to salvage this meeting and get something done.

Had McCain not insisted on this meeting, which did nothing but interject the Presidential race unnecessarily into a tense negotiation process, and get the Bush admin. to go along with the Kabuki, there may have been a deal.

From the NYT's account of the meeting:

"Instead he [McCain] found himself in the midst of a remarkable partisan showdown, lacking a clear public message for how to bring it to an end.

At the bipartisan White House meeting that Mr. McCain had called for a day earlier, he sat silently for more than 40 minutes, more observer than leader, and then offered only a vague sense of where he stood, said people in the meeting.

...

Still, by nightfall, the day provided the younger and less experienced Mr. Obama an opportunity to, in effect, shift roles with Mr. McCain. For a moment, at least, it was Mr. Obama presenting himself as the old hand at consensus building, and as the real face of bipartisan politics."

John K: Barney Frank went in front of those cameras early in the day, in an attempt to deflect criticism and get the heat off himself, and announced the House was on board. Of course, Frank was only speaking for himself. Remember Dodd/Obama took that money from Fannie Mae and now want the taxpayers to pay it back.

John K. said...

John K: Hussein Obama does not look good in this. Sort of just sat there and wondered what are these guys talking about? Am I supposed to know this stuff? Where is my teleprompter?

John K. said...

John K: Now if the Democrats were so sure of this it would already have been voted on. Remember, the House can pass this without any Republican votes. But the Democrats know that perhaps it is not such a good deal with the working poor. In 1993 Clinton passed a tax increase, without any Republican votes, and then lost both House and Senate in 1994. And the left thinks tax increases work LOL. The Democrats can pass this again in the same manner. In both House and Senate. And Bush will sign it. But then the Democrats want to blame Republicans if it is a failure. Typical Democrats. LOL LOL LOL LMAO Just like Onorato and Ftizgerald, pass something and blame the Republicans. Looks like you lame Democrats are going to have to deal with the Republicans who are looking out for the American people. Cause you sure ain't going to take any responsibility for anything.

well hell. after watching (scratching my eyes out) morning joe with the lovely and talented mika (john k's anchorbabe crush), i came away thinking that maverick mcsame was about to save the whole country by convincing his republican friends that they have to support this bill.

now, you show me evidence that maybe, it's not quite that way? huh. i'm shocked at the disparity in the media. to think that msnbc would allow any of their hosts to hop out of obama's bed! hmmm... or maybe they aren't the ones in bed with either candidate.

and johnny... the trib= fox. no wonder you take it as gospel. on any given day, you can read a story in the trib, and find 6 other sources that say the opposite.

I remember George HW Bush wanted to pass a tax increase. I guess he was worried about the Reagan debt. He got the leadership behind him (reluctantly), but the House and Senate rank and file broke with him and their leaders, both Democrat and Republican. I guess that's why Clinton felt he had to raise taxes. I guess it take courage to raise taxes. The current Bush (in the past) and now the House Republicans want to lower taxes to fix everything. WaMu was the latest casualty of that strategy.
