From Reuters:
HOUSTON (Reuters) - A grand jury in South Texas indicted U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and former attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Tuesday for "organized criminal activity" related to alleged abuse of inmates in private prisons.
The indictment has not been seen by a judge, who could dismiss it.
The grand jury in Willacy County, in the Rio Grande Valley near the U.S.-Mexico border, said Cheney is "profiteering from depriving human beings of their liberty," according to a copy of the indictment obtained by Reuters.
The indictment cites a "money trail" of Cheney's ownership in prison-related enterprises including the Vanguard Group, which owns an interest in private prisons in south Texas.
Former attorney general Gonzales used his position to "stop the investigations as to the wrong doings" into assaults in county prisons, the indictment said.
Could not have happened to two nicer guys!

John K: Those aren't the charges. They are charged for being conservatives and supporting America. It is now a crime to be a conservative and support America. The man-god Obama has proclaimed it. LOL

Unfortunately I doubt these charges will stick, at least against Cheney. I doubt that Cheney profited in any significant way from the operations of private prisons. Also I wonder how a Federal court would look upon an indictment of a sitting Vice-President. Still, these charges might have more traction in three months, and there are a host of other issues which could be investigated and worked into charges.
WHAT? This is Reuters. This is a real indictment. These are serious charges. This is huge news. I don't believe I learned it from 2 Political Junkies.
You were jinxing yourselves all that time with that "IMPEACH" banner!
I can only hope that this gets the ball rolling for other possible charges. Perhaps someone with legal authority will finally address all of the international and humanitarian law violations that these two men are responsible for. I wonder if Rumsfield will be stepping up to the plate soon.
