We get near daily hits from folks searching for info on where they can listen to Lynn Cullen.Yesterday's show was pretty good - she had Chris Potter on.
Well, she's back -- not on the airwaves -- but live streaming audio courtesy of the Pittsburgh City Paper.
It will be a one hour, weekday show at 10:00 AM starting on August 18th. The shows will be archived and downloadable.
Today, it'll be me.
I hope she's not setting a precedent of only having bald and/or balding men on but if Tony Norman's on tomorrow, we'll know for sure.
The show starts at 10AM. Just go to City Paper and follow the link with Lynn's picture on it.

i listened, eyeballs-ick!
Heard Dave complaining to Lynn about the Jefferson "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." quote.
The antiwar left yelled "Quit Crushing our Dissent" and used a fake Jefferson quote "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" to try to deflect any criticism.
Now someone uses a actual Jefferson quote. The left now says that quoting Jefferson is no longer a excuse and the quote according to Keith Olbermann is G-Damned.
Not surprisingly, HTTT gets it completely and utterly wrong.
I was not "complaining" about the quote I was pointing to its context.
What message is being sent when a critic of the president shows up at a rally where the president is speaking ARMED TO THE TEETH and holding a sign that says, in effect, that liberty is furthered by the "blood of tyrants"?
It's a FELONY to threaten the life of the President of the United States. Had someone shown up at a Bush/Cheney rally similarly armed and similarly signed, he/she would have been arrested quicker than you can say "waterboarding is torture."
Pay closer attention next time, you won't look like such an idiot.
Note I googled "threaten the life of the President of the United States" and found this.
It seems to be limited to the US mail.
Do you know of where I can read the law that says "It's a FELONY to threaten the life of the President of the United States."?
Because if an armed guy standing outside of the place where the President with a sign with the Jefferson quote (that does not directly name the President) falls under threaten the life of the President of the United States then so should the following.
Assassination chic
Btw, I should guess a progressive/Independent would define Olberman by saying he was just referring to the shirt and not the Jefferson quote on it.
"G-damn water the Tree of Liberty shirts.
Again, HTTT, you have to do your homework here. Or else you look like an idiot.
Try this. Here I'll cut and paste the important stuff for you:
(a)(1)(B) Whoever threatens to assault, kidnap, or murder, a United States official, a United States judge, a Federal law enforcement officer, or an official whose killing would be a crime under such section with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official, judge, or law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such official, judge, or law enforcement officer on account of the performance of official duties, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b).
And in case you were wondering:
(a)(C)(4) “United States official” means the President, President-elect, Vice President, Vice President-elect, a Member of Congress, a member-elect of Congress, a member of the executive branch who is the head of a department listed in 5 U.S.C. 101, or the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
I found that in about 10 seconds. Why didn't you?
The above was taken from US CODE: Title 18 Part 1 Chapter 7 section 115 - Influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a Federal official by threatening or injuring a family member.
Great show! :-)
HTTT, how can you say 18 USC 871 is limited to the mail? Please read again:
“Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.” (emphasis mine)
I won’t disagree that the left was casual about saying nasty things and wishing ill towards George W Bush. Never the less I have read that threats against the President have jumped 400 percent now that Obama has taken office. When you combine that with the spike in gun sales also since Obama has taken office and also the rhetoric of the right, you can see where people might say the threats are more credible now.
During the Bush years the Secret Service shot a man (in the knee) who was waving a pistol around standing outside the White House. They use their discretion and so far it seems like the people who have stood around armed outside town halls Obama was speaking at have not crossed the line. I am not sure I would be so forgiving myself were I in the shoes of the Secret Service.
I'm trying to understand what good purpose is served by carrying weapons to a presidential appearance, anyway.
If the goal is not to intimidate or threaten, what is it?
Put the best face on this for me, HTTT.
Put the best face on this for me, HTTT.
It is bad PR. But they have the right to do it.
Ed and Dave, I suspected that there was a law against threatening the life of the President of the United States. I had no luck with Google finding it.
I was interested in how progressives would denounce the Jefferson "tree of liberty" quote after using the fake "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" quote.
Dave during the show you said Democrats do not mislead/lie.
How do you explain this Dean quote that I wanted to ask him about when he was in Pittsburgh?
Dean:You know that abortions have gone up 25 percent since George Bush was President ?
Or Barney Frank Impales Self Using Own Words.
There is video of Frank claiming in 2005 there is no housing bubble and his committee will “continue to push for home ownership.”
and in a “2009 video on PBS, Frank claims “that conservatives were to blame for pushing unqualified buyers into home ownership, and that he has advocated only for rental housing all along.”
Don't get me started on Paul Krugman.
Funny.
I used the google and got the law in about 10 seconds.
And as I recall it, I said that Democrats mislead LESS than Republicans.
You're wrong. Again.
I listened yesterday and today. It's like having a dear friend back after a long absence. It was especially nice to hear an intelligent conversation between Lynn and one of two favorite bloggers. Hopefully Maria will be able to be a guest on her show sometime soon.
httt:
I didn't ask if carrying a weapon openly near where the president was appearing was legal. In Open Carry states, as well as in Beaver, PA, apparently, it obvioulsy is. Thus, they have a right to do so.
What I asked was: What is the purpose of carrying a firearm openly near such an event? Other than to intimidate or threaten, what could it be?
