One more detail. Dubya has a 35% approval rating which is only 2 points above his LOWEST Fox "News" rating - from April 2006.This has to be a milestone: A new poll has found that the American people dislike President Bush more than they dislike ... Dick Cheney. The poll — by Fox News, of all people — finds that President Bush's unfavorable rating is 58%, while Cheney's unpopularity rating is five points lower at 53%. Bush can, however, still take some small solace from the fact that his approval rating is one point higher than Cheney's; the President's is 38%, while the VP's is 37%.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of other numbers that are striking for a Fox poll: Only 39% of Americans view the GOP favorably, and 49% view them unfavorably. Meanwhile, a majority of respondents — 51% — have a favorable view of Dems, compared to only 35% who have an unfavorable view of what Fox likes to call the "Democrat Party."

I don't want to deflect from any of the reporting on Mayor Luke's handcuffing, but via TPMCafe, I found this Fox "News" poll. Here's how it's described at TPMCafe:

So much for moving forward. You people are so consumed with your hatred for Bush. You accuse me and others of being hate-mongering and yet all you do is bash Bush left and right and spew hate yourselves. Let's see what you supposedly are all about. Let's see you talk about the issues, instead of the same thing, day in and day out.
Do something. Other than hate. We've seen it. It's old.
Master Lie, those of us who express our opinions here are stupid, hateful, zoophilic, unpatriotic, arrogant, perverted, consumed, boring, backward, grotesque, balless vulgarians.
Does your Mommy want you hanging out with people like that?
Shitrock, there's a huge difference between expressing opinions and ranting on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about the same thing day after day after day.
What's the deal with you anyway, Shitrock? Can't you let David defend himself on his own blog? Cripes if you are not a nosy individual. Why don't you take your vulgar, adolescent comments and shove them where the sun doesn't shine, sir? You're a despicable individual when it comes to discussion. However, you'll ignore everything I said because you're so steadfast in your liberal mentality nothing else matters. In fact, you'll most likely respond to me with your condescending, sarcastic way of admitting all of the above. All in all, your behavior only indicates a spoiled brat child.
I suppose we cannot move forward on here. I suppose the subject of the day is the poll number of the day. So much for moving on. So much real discussion like the Democrats' plan to move this country forward.
Perhaps David should change the name of this blog to:
2PollNumberJunkies
Just a thought.
"Shitrock, there's a huge difference between expressing opinions and ranting on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about the same thing day after day after day."
And wonder of wonders, the irony mine keeps on producing. God but this is a rich vein!
Irony is the stuff that political blogs are made of, and this blog would be a much duller place without certain, shall we say, factually challenged persons.
One interesting note to that poll is that Nancy Pelosi tracks lower than W in approval ratings.
I'm just sayin'...
You know, I FORGOT that we were supposed to move forward. Just like the Republicans did with Whitewater and Jennifer Flowers and Paula whatever-her-name-was. You know, we should be moving forward and tackling the tough issues like flag burning and gay marriage. Looking back is so Republican-led Congress '90s.
X,
Pelosi's low numbers are coming in part becuase of low name recognition. Now, if she's in the same range next January, then the Dems have a serious problem on their hands.
Are you telling me that just because someone has low-name recognition that their approval rating is going to be low? If that is the case then we should be questioning the validty of the polls.
If someone says they have not heard of a person the poll should not automatically classify that as a negative.
It's my hunch that there's a correlation between her approval ratings and her name recognition. I would credit this in part to those who've tried to caricature as a proponent of "San Francisco Values." Of course, I could be wrong. After all, I'm just playing a hunch. Still, I'd like to see the data...
